So, an introductory rant? I should be good for one of those...

My name is Dennis and I live in the suburban parts of Copenhagen, Denmark.
At the moment I'm 34, single, enjoying movies, good reading, anime, aikido and reckless usage of flaming objects preferably rotating around me at high velocity wink

My spinning history, for those interested;
I've been studying aikido for a while and at some point I started experimenting with the jo (1.28m length, 1 inch diameter oak staff... I'll get back to why this was a bad spinning toy).
It all began with the whole "weapon as a natural extention of the body" speech thingy and me thinking that I'd have to do something to become one with it.
Somewhere along the line my neurons completely misfired and spinning it only made it briefly become one with shins, kneecaps and the back of my head.
Later a good friend of mine told me that what I was doing looked more like an attempt at performance art than martial arts, and my next thought was "in that case it better look good, and it should be on fire".
I've been spinning a staff for about 3 years, on fire for 1½ year, but only occasionally and only for fun. I have done a couple of "shows" for a few people and got a few pics I can upload when my allowance lets me smile
I started practicing poi spinning about 2 weeks ago which is a lot of fun except for the part of hitting myself over the head with blunt instruments again. Ah, how I've missed that ubbloco

There's probably more stuff that would have been interesting to put here, but I'll have to rely on you asking me.

Oh yeah... I don't mind pink, but I never wear it (dunno, seems like a recurring theme or something in the other intros).

/Dennis

I left the last Rammstein concert with a fierce desire to play with flamethrowers. Luckily I don't have any.

Welcome !

I have a flamethrower, shes called Tess, but we dont play with her, we just love her and stroke her.... biggrin

So...where are you from? where have you been? Have you ever been trapped in an elevator? If you were fire burning bright, who's fingers would you like to burn tonight?

Hello! wave welcome to HoP.. Please don't feed the Noddy wink

The existance of flamethrowers says that someone, somewhere, at sometime said "I need to set that thing on fire, but it's too far away."

Thanks for the warm welcome smile

Don't worry, I won't feed any noddies (though I don't know what a noddy is or even if they exist in plurals, I'm not going to take someone elses job away from them).

I did pre-empt you Pink, but feel free to ask me anything as compensation wink

Ah, green... Green is that which stimulates my eye the most, don't ask why, I'm just kinda sensitive that way.

Favorite type of book? Fictional, humorous, intelligent.
I've read and enjoyed everything by Douglas Adams, Terry Pratchett and I'm working on Robert Rankin (enjoyed all I've read, but haven't read it all yet).

blu_valley:
I am from where I am. Though I have not always been where I am, I was always where I were, even when it was far far away.

Elevators have always behaved in my presence or maybe they never had the desire to hold on to me for just a little while longer
(should I feel appreciated or rejected? I just don't know).

If I were fire burning bright, whose fingers would I burn tonight?

There was this girl whom I still remember,
Years past made love a dying ember,
And she moved on, of course.
New fingers to burn I'll have to find,
And from your words I would not mind,
A flamethrower much like yours.

That is of course unless,
The one that you call Tess,
Is a dog, or a cat,
Or something like that,
Now, that would really be a mess.

Hi ma'tina,

Thank you wave

To you first question,
Not all the questions are, so
Why should all answers?

Denmark is warm and sunny at last, so much rain and only 6 summerdays so far. I had to go spin poi on a lawn for a couple of hours today, still hitting myself a lot from shoulder-reel-turns to one side. The other side works just fine... hate it when that happens umm

How's Germany? What do you spin/whirl/throw ? What's your burning desire?

Linden_rathen, owner of noddy, see you like anime as well.
What kind? Which ones?

Blu-valley; I fall down a whole lot too, I do it on purpose, do you?

/Dennis

Wonder if Pink is mad at me for cheating her out on her question?

Ola!

I never wanted you to answer all questions in a poetical way, I just like it when you do so!

...after several days of rain and a bit cool atmosphere...it's getting warm again - especially the weekend is supposed to get really HOT cool

..apart from all that stuff....I spin/whirl/throw staff, since about two years, and started to play poi, about 4/5 months ago, but my burning desire are poi, poi, poi....at the moment - even though I still do like to perform partner-staff-things, e.g. a friend of mine and me are sometimes dancing together, each of us with a single staff - but POI are my love ! ubblove

what are your plans for the summer?

If you like it I shall aspire to a more poetic future smile

I so envy you ma'tina, I don't know anyone in RL that spins. Think it would be nice to have someone to bounce ideas off and just to hang out and spin with. Maybe I could convince some of my friends to try...

My summer? june and july will be as little work as I can get away with and extended weekends of short vacation and getaways, a couple of game conventions and hanging out with some really good friends. After that no real plans, just making it up as I go along and saving vacation for when I really need it smile
I hope to go to Japan for 2 weeks in october, but that's _so_ far away.
Hopefully it will be a dry and sunny summer so I can practice poi as much as possible, only poi'd 2 weeks but I love it already
ubblove
I hope to be good enough to spin fire next spring as I do a fireshow at an annual gathering, and wish to do something new (poi and double staff).

What will you do with your summer?

/Dennis

Hi Dixie, how goes the duckling entertainment business ? smile

Green's good, reminds me of trees in the summer,
But why must it rain all the time, what a bummer.

sure you will convince someone to spin with you, just tell him about the possibilities and either a staff or a pair of poi, a bit of sunshine,....and other good things will do to convince some of your friends - good luck with that, but shouldn't be too difficult!

in case you won't find any volunteers, come to my place and I will take you to my mates, a group of about 15 people that meet up to spin every week.....

apart from that Im doing some preparations for my final exams at uni - I still have time...
wanna travel as much as possible, Berlin, London, Edinburgh, Barcelona,....well see and spin, enjoy the summer and spin....and love.....and spin.....and work before all that to have the money for my trips,...and thats why Im sitting in an office too many hours a day at the moment, but just for the next month.....

Pink, have you considered that maybe your washing machine is so loud because it has always had difficulty getting attention?

Maybe all it wants is a hug now and then, I mean who doesn't?
