Hidy hoo to you, all! : D

Obviously I'm new, so I wanted to introduce myself and ask for help. My name is Ana and I was always impressed by Art of Poi. But as I live in place where this is not very common to do, I have never had chance to try it 'till few days ago- on my happiness! : ) I was out with friends and met some totally crazy and cool people who do it for quiet a long time and they invited me to join them. I was extremely glad and went to my very first "class". I tried it with stick and found it much harder than chains, so I stuck with them. Now I am looking to buy chains, but in my country you can't find it and shipping them from USA would be too expensive, I think. Yesterday I made improvisation of poi-chains, but I would ask for help... if any of you can give me easy "step-by-step" instuction how to make one, which will be good but still very easy to use as I'm newbie in this whole thing. And as you might notice, English is not my first language and I have small problem with terms about poi (I learnt them all on my own language)... so some pictures of materials would be great!

Also, I am looking forward to make some friends here! : )

Have fun,

~Ana.

P.S. If there's anything you would like to know about me, feel free to ask.

welcome hug I agree with Vixen (absolutely ubblove kiss-a-holic's by the way...), sock poi is a great way to start, and I've been able to learn airwraps with them easier than with a chain. The free lessons section on this site is a great place to start for learning the basic moves.

I hope you enjoy yourself here, and there seems to be no end to what you can learn here. hug welcome

...it's safe to say that relationships inspired by the art of poi are not necessarily 'poi'fect...!

Hi Ana! wave It looks like you came to the right place to find the rest of the crazy and cool people biggrin

Where are you from?

Incidentally, when I started poi, I didn't really know where to get help from, so I did learnt everything in 'my own language' too. e.g. That twisty-thing-round-on-the-side, or that-twisty-thing-not-like-the-other-twisty-thing, or not-a-twisty-thing... ubblol Ah memories..

About equipment, HoP's got a good selection of some really nice stuff, I'd highly recommend getting your first poi set from here. At least that way when you want to start making your own, you know more or less what parts you're after. Either that or borrow someone-you-know's poi and bring it into a hardware store and look for similar parts..

Good luck! weavesmiley
