I just got a canon ZR50 MC Digital Camcorder and i need help figuring out how to get the video off of the tape and onto the computer in an mpg file Format

Really though, without going into full detail youre going to need a fire wire cable (should have come with the camera), a fire wire card in your PC (not too expensive if you dont already have one), and a video editing program such as Windows Movie Maker (for the computer illiterate) or Adobe Premiere (for the computer savvy). Once you have those things, you should be able to just plug the camera in to your computer, open the editing program, capture the footage, then export it as MPEG.
