I thought, because it comes up alot, that i shold put up this clip of different tangles. Multi (TWIST)*edited* tangles mostly and "how to" get into them... the physics and names ill leave for debate (where i can) wink

Mostly this thread if for newbs, and how to get outside hyp/ airwaps. Because the outside is an easy way to learn airwraps and also needed to be able to get multi tangle.

This has been talked about a bit but never really ended where i hope this thread will (tangled forever and variating tangles). eek

Here is the clip Hype its pretty old fottage, over a year, but i think it's clear enough to see whats happening. Size is 5.87 MB so about 15-20 min @ 56k (oh if the clip is down it will be back in about 1hr)

Ok starting with outside airwarps (the most common in the clip) its pretty easy to tangle on the side of your body and then bring you hands accross the otherside to un-wrap (personally i think this is the 1st hyp people should learn)

The ones in the clip are from a forward weave, though reverse is just as easy.

Skipping back, at the beginning of the clip is a tangled buzzsaw. To get a tangled buzzsaw you want to tangle "in between" you hands, its the easy way.

Now alot of people on hop already have both these, so once you nail them you can combine them, by starting at an outside hyp and THEN bringing it into buzzsaw position (as in video where is hits my chest). This leaves an extra tangle (twist) so when you exit (outside) you will still be tangled... THAT is what allows you to re-enter buzzsaw STILL tangled...then you can come out the other side still tangled and... u get the picture (infinate buzzsaw tangles)

This extra twist can also allow you to change your hyperloop from a buzzsaw into a butterfly...unfortunatly i dont have that on video, frown but as you can see on the clip it is possible to keep tangled (if not hard) and if you ever master that you can keep your chains tangled forever going through alot of different hyps on different planes smile

Good luck biggrin

just a little mind funk. Think of it like a reverse isolated thread the needle, form a nexus at the top, on the outside. It will bounce down and inside and up and out again, at which point it will exit. viewed from above there is a circular motion of the poi heads.

Nice isolated BF airwrap! Try doing them over the head as well and taking them under an arm to the rear wall plane and back..

not bad on the bf tangles!! i wish i could learn the buzzsaw tangles you have too. i just got the bfly side a few weeks ago and tried to show mtbeer the continuously turning 4 beat version last weekend. wink can you do them on either side in either direction, with either hand on top, now? (i have no clue how old that video is?) if so, start turning that censored!! then show me a video where i can learn split time (drool).

i almost felt bad for learning all these because there's rarely if ever going to be an audience that can tell the difference between a bf weave and a tangled outside bf weave. my insides are shite, but i have plans for that too. the isolation is beautiful though, and shows off exactly how they're tangling!! thanks man.

Dragon, the end of dantana's bf video is all 'multi-beat', he just raises his hands a lot to isolate and seperate the two beats. you can do that without isolating too and it looks like a regular 4 beat bfly move -- you just thread the needle 'backwards' through the chain toward the poi heads.

if anyone does have turning with these down, do you know anything about the 6 beat version or possibly throughwrapping into the tangles? those are something mtbeer asked me about that i hadn't even thought of at the time. grr and it's freaking hard for me to do bf weave at all without constant accidental tangles now, too. =/ time to relearn everything from the ground up again! weavesmiley

the end of dantana's bf video is all 'multi-beat',

DOH! I ment multi tangle (sry bout that) Which is the whole reason i wrote this post cause there is a huge difference between how many times you poi rotate (oribital style or even butterfly) vs how many times your chains twist up.

Now ill have to go watch Dans vids AGAIN wink just to be sure cause im doubting myself now :P

If you can try to get those outsides and then go buzzsaw and come out on the other side still tangled, go straight back into buzzsaw...it SHOULD remain twisted 3 times... let me know what happens..hopefully ull get an atomic hyperloop. Once you nali it, it should become eaiser to begin on a horozontal plane...

actually, Dut, the split time is a completely different animal, which arashi is much more familiar with than I. they are very interesting though, however, I can't YET do any of them... so many moves... so little time... :P

darn it, now I am going to have to watch my own video again.. y'all got me confused about my own moves! ROFL maybe I'll just stick with the simple stuff weavesmiley

I will be the first to admit I don't fully comprehend a lot fo this stuff. It'sd like a reflex action. Like on aliens, when they poke the face grabber with a pointy thing and it twitches. eek

The 2 sec of fire, you cant see it, but the chains are actually tangled the whole way.

Pink…? is the only person I know who can keep a continual tangle going I will ask her if she will let me film her doing it at Falmouth. It looks both smooth and controlled an amazing sight to watch.

cos she is notoriously camera shy

I'm not one for all the terms but she comes into it form split time forward rotation (same direction) wraps to the middle (between the arms) pulls it out to the other side and without unwrapping brings it back to the middle and out then to the other side again. So it’s a continuous tangle moving back and forth in front of the body. Not sure if this description is any good will pm her ask.

dantana - split time the way i do it (unisolated) is the same as same time, just with the tangles on the sides instead of the top and bottom. (makes me want to say 'duh'). i can do straight beats of it with no problem, but turning is not working for me because it's tangling where i'd normally be turning through. i'm sure i'll get it eventually. all in all, i want to be to the butterfly what that british spinach hyperlooper kid is to the weave. wink i want to put the tangles everywhere!

also on a completely related note, the bfly inside airwraps are entirely possible, while turning!! these will be mine. not only that, i also somehow got an inside butterfly double wristwrap which turned out to also lead me to a buzzsaw handcuff wrap! that means i can start learning inside 'spirals'!!

did i mention i love poi?! there really are few limits outside my own head.

Most butterfly hyperlooping stuff starts inside. Or at least it's all a lot easier to begin inside anyway.

look up T&B's thread on twists and tangles... slightly different terminology, but the same thing (i think). it explains (mathamatically) how looping works and gives some formula as to what will/wont work, including multiples of both tangles/beats.
