Time to reminiss on the 80's shite that was TV.
1: Saved by the bell!........ my god Kelly was HOT!
2: Dukes of hazard... how kewl was that car!
3: Airwolf.... now who else wanted to fly in that thing?.
4: The Desmonds!...... WARNINGif any one can find any episodes on dvd or the net >>> PLEASE TELL ME i've been searching for years.
5: Bell and sebastian... any one else ever remember this cartoon, i cant find it any where either and i only know two other people that can remember it. BUT I JUST FOUND A WEBSITE! woohoo bell and sebastian.
6: Ski sunday.... now what the F*** was that about?... i hate my dad for endless sufferings of that show and he's never ski'd in his life.
7: the podington peas!.... down at the bottom of the garden... amongst the birds and the bee's... :lol
so i dont want to steel all the good ones!...
Join in and bring back quality TV!

ah, the eighties....
now I am actually old enough to remember, because I was in my teens then (unlike a lot of HoPers), and the most revolutionary things on TV here in holland were:
A) the american TV-day. (late 80s) ok, this might need a bit of an explanation: we had a system with only public networks. we had about 10 different "stations" distibuted over 2 (and later 3) channels. each of them had their own amount of broadcasting time. TV didn't start untill 4 PM and ended around midnight. every "station" had a certain amount of broadcast time, linked to the amount of "members" they had. but because of the odd number of channels on the even number of stations, these stations got about an extra half hour of time every week, which they would fill in the following week.
at one point the station called Veronica started saving up those half hours and got the network to have them use it up on a single day. a big campain introduced this American TV day: 24 hours full of crap shows and commercials (we didn't know commercial-breaks at that time). man, that was an exciting 24 hours of hell!!!! so many bloody commercials...
ok, now we have commercial stations and 24-hour tv ourselves, but oh the horror it predicted... (maybe that's why I don't have TV now?)
B) Pirate TV (early 80s) now this was exciting!!!!! because there was no cable and TV transmissions stopped at midnight, in the early 80s we encountered Pirate TV: unofficial stations that would broadcast after hours from a van. with a wide range of stuff: the most important ones would be the left wing political stations like squatter-networks and anti government activists, these were the true pirates, and some of those stations still have pirate radio show now... but on the other hand you would have stations that would broadcast weird movies and.... porn!!!! porn was really unseen publicly then, and this was the thing the adults used to watch after you'd gone to bed. and that you would want to see too, because it was so forbidden. I can't remember actually being able to sneak in to see some, but my parents (left wingies as they were) did wake me up a couple of times to watch a bit of the more political stuff, because they thought it was a historical important thing, these pirate stations, and they wanted me to have experienced it.

1. "V", gotta be the coolest sci-fi series ever! I saw it again last year and it was so much fun!
2. agree with pk that the Dukes of Hazard were great...
3. cartoons cartoons cartoons! though there were no Simpsons yet for most of the decade, but I loved Captain Future (did you ever get him in the UK or America??)
4. childrens tv shows. "Die Sendung mit der Maus" and "Löwenzahn", you wouldn't know any of them, but they were at LEAST as good as Sesame Street!
5. I do remember watching the Football World Cup 86 when I was 7. It was great, we were all winding up my mum who got really pissed off whenever the referee decided ANYTHING for the opposite team... and I lost my first tooth while watching it!
6. Star Trek... back then I thought Leonard Nimoy was cool. This was before I heard him singing "Bilbo Baggins".

and V!! You go Birgit! I still remember those poor lab rats getting eaten.. and the white spaceships and the logo which looked alot like the divide symbol..
Thundercats agreed, though I watched an original episode a few months ago, and wasn't impressed. I think it's because I didn't get to see mumm-ra go nuts..
Dungeons and Dragons the cartoon?? I've been trying to hunt that down for ages.. only thing I remember from it was the bad guy on a flying horse and the rollercoaster in the beginning..
Oh and M.A.S.K and He-man were pretty watcable.. and doh! the original transformers too..

As to She-ra vs wonder woman, I'd put my money on She-ra. Wonder woman only really has the ability to deflect bullets with her bracers, but She-ra doesn't shoot people, so that power would be useless.

I think it was also around the 80s (I was around 7 anyways) my dad insisted I watch the Beatles Yellow Submarine cartoon movie. The psychedelic part disturbed me greatly - the same effect as the child catcher in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

Mysterious Cities of gold, the first TV show I watched end to end - remember the big golden condor?! Any of the french/japanese co-ops were ace, Dogtanian, and Belle and Sebastian...
Anyone remember Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors? Fight Plants, theyre EEEEVIL...

Firepoise, I have got Yellow Submarine on VHS, and my g/f refuses to watch it cos it scares her...
MUUM-RA the ever living!!!! Argh how scary? I found myself in high school drawing his pyramid on the front of my Maths book...
Street Hawk? That was the Airwolf rip-off on a motorbike... Interestin fact - Jan-Michael Vincent (Airwolf) went on to star in soft-porn movies...
