Well this is my 200th post! About time I wrote an intro then I guess.

What can I say, Hi everyone!

I've been spinning for ages on and off, but I've only really taken it up in the last year. I do Poi, staff, toss and contact juggling, and I’ll try out anything I can!

At the moment I'm devoting all my time that I’m not at work (and most of the time I am at work) to helping Dunc with PLAY.

Anyway, that's enough for now,

C'ya and thanks everyone for being part of the best community I’ve found on the internet! hug

can we get adult sizes? I want to be comfy.Plus I have quite wide hips. I'm thinking a foot rest as well. We'd never need to move! We'd have to get the kettle and fridge set up right next to us so we'd never need to sit up smile perfick! x

SymSymSym!

When I was watching Bill Bailey's Cosmic Jam the other day, at one point he said "What I want to do now.... well, what I want to do now is grow my beard into my pubes and strum it like a harp".

And I was all "*gasp!* Sym could do that!"

Then I remebered your lack of beard.

Grow it again!

Then become Sym BeardyPubes!

You'd be even cooler than bottle guy!

Ok, I need to have a rant.

I am very angry today. It was just after I'd come back from my lunch break (I went to a book stall and got a juggling book for the Cambridge community circus and a book called ‘knitting for fun' for Jo). I'd just finished eating when my colleagues started talking about a stop the war coalition petition stand outside the building, asking people to sign for an ‘unconditional ceasefire' between Iran and Hezbollah.

I'll not say names, but A said that he thought it was a stupid idea and they wouldn't actually change anything B agreed and said that they should go and get a real job rather than standing in the street.

It went on for a while with them both talking about how stupid and pointless these peoples lives were, because they were trying to stop a war. After that A started talking about how he wants to get a plasma screen at home, and talked about how he's looking forward to watching TV and having a drink whilst his wife cooks his dinner and looks after the kids. When B said that he should have it in the kitchen, A said that he didn't like that idea because if the kids were being naughty it would disturb him.

At that point I had to leave. A is someone who once said he didn't care about cars damaging the environment because they are too fun to drive. "Why would you get the train ever? Driving is so much more fun and you don't have to talk to any of those public transport hippy types".

I went outside to talk to the people at the petition stand. We were talking about the ceasefire and about how the UN isn't actually doing anything useful at all. I was watching people walking by looking at the sale on at topshop and thinking how good they would look with that new top. I wanted to go up to people and somehow get them to understand how bad our world is, and how the little world of smoothies, takeaways, pop music and TV was a horrid extension of everything that I think of as bad in the world. I find it hard to walk down the street without getting depressed at the state of our ‘civilised' western world when I'm reading blogs from people whos houses are getting bombed with shells that are illegally shipped though our airports from America.

https://allkindsofwriting.blogspot.com/2006/08/im-not-even-sure-what-to-say.html

The I read things like the UN resolution that calls for

"the immediate cessation by Hezbollah of all attacks and the immediate cessation by Israel of all offensive military operations."

Why can't the world see that things like this are only helping Israel, because they are claming that everything they are doing is DEfensive NOT offensive. They haven't defined any act of this pathetic war as offensive. When they bomb children, or Christian settlements that Hezbollah wouldn't go to or bridges on roads that stop the aid getting to the young and old people who have been in bomb shelters for 3 weeks, the ones who are every day people running out of food, water and fuel, they are being defensive. The only thing that would change if the world had accepted the resolution is that no one apart from Israel would be able to do anything in the area. How does that help anyone?

I made this image of the centre of Cambridge and the Haret Hreik neighbourhood of Beirut, originally taken from https://www.nytimes.com/packages/html/world/20060804_MIDEAST_GRAPHIC/

I really don't think I can say anything more about it.

I need to go and edit the council web pages now, changing the disabled assess to toilets page. Nice.

Sorry for my rant, but I feel much better now. A and B have gone to meetings.

Well, one could argue that Iran and Hezbollah are more or less the same - but that's a debate that I guess is going on in the "Israel back at war" thread - I've not looked at it at all....
