edit:

figured i may as well say some other stuff in this post too, seeing as i'm presently changing the title of the thread (from the basic introduce yourself here thread to what you now see it as)...

first off, HoP rules. i am so grateful to have found poi, and to have come to this magickal land of peace and happiness. everyone here is so wonderful and amazing and full of sharing and caring and love. such a wonderful family, i have not come across anything even vaguely resembling it on the net... as im sure you can agree.

secondly.. its all love. everything is love. if you see love then you'll feel it and have such a greater, more enjoyable time here on earth. feel free to indulge in the ubblove and heart and hug that you will find in this thread... if you share love it is doubled....

cant really think of anything else atm...

..any questions? i love questions.. yay.

much love, folks. heart

so this was the original post:

hello.

using comet poi outside while its windy sometimes gets you whipped in the face and sometimes tangles your poi up, but it helps to achieve definition in your moves.

doing poi in front of a mirror (or two) helps you as well.

i know, you all know this already.

maybe i should just say:

um.

and leave it at that..

but thats nowhere near as entertaining, and i'm sure that there will not be that much conversation created by that, and thats why i've come here, i suppose, to chat and meet people so i can do more poi, because it is

real stink

when you dont have anyone to poi with.

and im in wellington, nz. i did a search and there are no others from wellington on this site.. which rather suprised me.

i like poi. they are fun and stimulating. i like uncovering "new" moves and i like "perfecting" moves that i couldn't do before..

i find it difficult to understand how poi moves are supposed to go when reading in the forums, i find it easier to watch someone do it and then duplicate the same (or similar) body movements..

hence the desire to hook up with people, i guess..

anyway.

im 25. im a healer (energy-work, acupuncture, chinese massage), and am into meditation and spirituality (although i have sampled from many different religions/philosophies/modes of thought etc, what resonates most with me is zen buddhism, taoism, and integral studies). i dont eat animals (three years) and dont buy into that "reality" bullshit (ie tv, newspapers etc). what is happening to me directly is far more interesting to me than whats made up or whats being fed to us (which is usually coloured a certain way because... blahblah). i like nature a lot. so rich and vibrant and wonderful. i like music, all different genres (even country..!), although i have been enjoying reggae, r&b and hip-hop lately. very good to dance to, although i find it a little slow to poi to.. i like movies like fight club, the cube, princess mononoke etc.

um.

i've been married (still am, i spose.. separated - but on amicable terms, yayfully), which was a great experience, but now.. the freedom of being one instead of part of two.. its really nice. all that potential..

anyway.. i cant think of anything more to say.

hope this wasn't too long.

todd.

well, yay for replies, to begin with..

i was wondering whether i'd get a boing boing from the crazy pogo-sticker. delighted that i did. (bounces on bed attempting to attain the dizzying heights displayed by gidg)...
gnor, thanks for the leads.. .. hhmm... nope. i really like the green bouncing thingy, too, btw.
hex: i am sure the poi scene here is fantastically fabulous.. on new years i was at a concert (trinity roots, for those of you interested in knowing - a fantastic nz roots band (from wellington, even.)) and there was noone doing poi so i got out my cute little comets (new from xmas) and played (read: showed off) around a bit. got a couple of bites, too.. few people came up and asked for a go. which was great. its like.. people that poi have their own little understanding.. like, "you do poi too? " sort of thing... but anyway.. i think its prolific (sp?) here, i just have not come across those others that are the addicted junkies of poi.. i like your quote too, hex.
im fine with pink. personally, im more an earthy-type colour wearer myself, but i have nothing against pink (rose quartz is lovely).. visualize it sometimes in my meditations to harmonize and open my heart chakra... so yay for the necessary and important pink..!
yay for fellow taoists, too... (mark)
skul, where'd you learn your shiatsu? how long for..? etcetc...
wild child: yay for sounding lovely... but then, there is the sound and then there is the action.. only one way to find out..
barrels are good for storing used monkey's in (or so i'm told).
peace.

Awww... you sound great!
I got a couple of similarities. no chowing down on animals for nearly 10 years ( my aniversary is in a couple of weeks, yay).

not into "reality" as you call it either (Although I sort of think that mine is the true reality, and what is being fed to us as truth isn't, unles you were being sarcastic and I missed it) -no TV, take what I read/hear through media and popular belief with a grain of salt (although there's a fine line between questioning and paraniod, been severely paranoid, no fun).

oh, and it looks like you know how to ramble on. Rambling's good smile

so to sum it up: good to meet you

doesnt it suck when you type out something and it is deep and moving and gratifying and something goes wrong (say, for example, you press a strange key combination because its late at night and the lights are out and you have a lap top on the top of your lap) and you lose what you had typed?
sometimes (say, for example, when it happens to me) i think it sucks..
anyway..
myco, its nice to meet someone who has a similar perception on "this".. mine's the true reality, too...!
no sarcasm.
rambling?

you're in the healing profession too, i see...

yeah, i graduated from my advanced diploma (allows me to practice) and will complete my degree in either mid year or end of year depending on subject availabilty.. looking fowrad to starting my own practice when i get up to bris!

definately very interested in energy work, didnt really go into it much at school which is damn annoying, but definately something that i am going to have to look more into.

we have learnt the 8 extras, but hardly ever use them, but whenever i have i have had awesome results, so its something that i am going to have to read up on more and get more info on.

an awesome read for you if you havnt read it before- "nourishing destiny" by lonny jarret (not sure if 1 t or 2). actually anything by him is pretty insiteful, gives you a spritual aspect for each point and different indications etc. quite an eye opener. highly reccommeded if you want to get into the energy work stuph.

you learn much about the astrological acupuncture?? the absolute point for different days/times of day etc?? something else i really want to get into, but nothing offered at school.

yay for having someone to share stuph with!!!!!

yeah yay for princess mononoke!

the guy that did that has also done a newer one, called spirited away, which i have yet to see.
also, i saw beautiful sunset of a spotless mind (is that what its called? i always get confused because there are so many words in the title...) the other day, which is simply fantastic as well. done by a chap called charlie kauffman (sp?) who also did adaptation (nic cage) and being john malkovich. this guys movies just keep getting better and better.

myco: yeah... poiet just didnt jive right with me.. this one doesnt either, but what can you do? this one has more truth to it (ie feels more right) than the other one....

anyway...

yay!

hello and welcome! thanks for posting that earthship link in your profile -- i want to build one when i get the fundage together. near the yuba river in northern cali -- that would be very very sweet.

spirted away is fantastic, in all meanings of the word. and it's eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, which is also fantastic. the title comes from a poem by alexander pope. it's one of my favorite movies ever!

this is something i've coveted for nearly a decade.
well.. no.
but anyway...

earthships rule, man! they are so great. i saw the link in someones profile on yahoo msgnr and was like "this is what i've been looking for...!"

and for anyone who doesnt want to go to my profile to get the link, its www.earthship.org

and blue, remember to apply feng shui to your earthship, otherwise its not worth it...
