Yo Y'all.

Edit: now with Dates for the 6 week - monday evening course, watch this space for details on the weekender

I thought that it would be a really good thing to run a course on Ball Contact.

So I wrote one, and if I don't say so myself, its the shizzle nizzle. cool

If is successful, I'll think about doing more - stick contact and poi. biggrin

WHO FOR:

Its aimed at complete beginners up to people who have been playing for 1 year.

Small group size - 8 people.

WHAT WILL YOU GET OUT OF IT:

In the 6 evening course I reckon you will learn as much as you would get from 6 months to a year of practicing it on you own AND because of the good grounding in technique, over the next 6 months you will progress at about 2X the pace you would have done without. and you will have enough material to keep you busy for at least 3 years of practice.

It will be really F**king good, I promise.

And lots of not taking things too seriously.

WHAT WILL BE IN IT:

Its going to be covering the fundamentals of this Lot:

-Isolations

-technique more technique

-Lots of 1 ball

-Rolling Arm rolls and rolling ubbrollsmile

-Palm spinning

-Snakes - normal, 3D, digital and helical snakes

-Balancing and stalls and holds

-Pyramids manipulations and some basic formations

-More Isolations

-Mixing with throw juggling

-How to be smooth

-Meditation

-Multi-person contact

-Musicality, flow, presenting and making it look good and dancing for those who want them.

-Even More different Isolations and more good technique.

-Every night there will be a 30 minute screening of video clips showing some if the most inspirational, Contact, manipulation, juggling, craziness and dance.

-Essentials on warming up and warming down and avoiding long term injury.

-And I've got a bit of time for requests from everyone on moves that they would like to cover.

WHERE:

I want to try to keep the cost down for beginners course so I will run in mine and Doms front room in Brixton, South London. Its big and has a padded floor.

WHEN:

6 Monday nights: Starting Monday 10 January to Monday 14/21 February (probably skip valentines day TBC)

Time: 7:15pm to 10:30pm

and yes I will run the weekend course soon, but I decided to run this one first, because its cool. and because coleman and Steve kept asking nicely smile

COST:

For 6 Monday nights: 40 quid

BALLS:

You need to bring at least 1 ball, does not need to be acrylic. But it is better if you have at least 2 or 3 of your own acrylics for last 4 weeks.

I've only got enough CJ balls for 5 people to practice 4. So there have to be a few places for folk who have their own balls.

ME:

I've been doing contact for 9 years and teaching poi, staff contact and ball contact it for at least 7, I do workshops every year at the British, European, London, Bristol conventions and last years British contact juggling convention.

I CJ usually with 1 to 10 acrylics or 1 stage ball and last time I went busking CJ I came back with a Girlfriend. That was a surprise.

Anything else:

There will be biscuits AND Tea. smile

This is a really good opportunity to learn CJ

Please PM me and reply below if you’re interested, even if you can’t make the dates above, first come/sillyest message gets the places first.

I would find it easier to attend sometime during academic holidays...

Yo Dudes, sorry for being quiet,
I spent last week feeling ill and unable to think,
While incapacitated I bought a big horse and a robot arm,

I'll try to sort this out tomorrow and get my brain to work
there seem to be a lot more people interested in a 2 day event type thing.
there is possibility of the 28th and 29th of december
and also 15/16 jan or the 29/30th jan

ITs a bit tricky as I can squeeze less into a 2 day that 6 long evenings
So theres a decision, this time, is it to be more of an emphasis on the acrylic multiball stuff or more of the 1 ball and body goodness???

smiles

Hold my breath when you are near
so i don't have to breath you in
look away before i start to endorse
your eyes full of hate and remorse
in to the eye of another

what about the actual course glass has written though - does everyone just want to cram learning cj into 2 days or are there people up for the real sh!t? wink

seriously, if anyone wants to really get the most out of cj, the 6 week course will give you a seriously solid grounding compared to 2 days of cramming.

thats why i want to do it over 6 weeks.

with lots of tea smile

in new year would be good for me, already got too much planned at the end of december.

As for cramming into 2 days, i wouldn't expect to learn as much as 6 weeks, and totally understand that to learn something properly you really need to go away and practice for at least a week (if not a year) after being introduced it before learning more complex variations. Having done one of Knox's double staff courses which was only 4 hours I know how tiring it can be, so cramming in 6 weeks into 2 days could be counter-productive.

How about the 6 week course put into 2 weekends - beginner and intermediate?

While I'd love to do a course every monday night for 6 weeks, I don't really think I can since it'd mean getting into London twice a week (because I'd be going to Spitz too).

That'd be an extra £84 (6 travelcards at £14 each), pretty expensive given my lack of funds at the moment. Plus, there's always the chance that I'll get myself a job halfway through and not be able to get into London in the evening for the rest of the course.

Hmm, I'll see what happens - count my vote as undecided and I'll see what the final decision is.
The chances are that I'll be able to sort something out that'll mean I could get to a 6 week course.

But there's no sense crying over every mistake. You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

The 6 weeker sounds much better and it'll give the brain time to learn stuff but, as with most folk in the yoo kay, we don't live in London. It'd cost me even more than Bov to get there that often so would make it impossible.

I'm still up for the weekender, if it's in January it'll keep the missus much happier over xmas too as she'll actually see me wink

I'd love to do a course at some point, depending on if I'm skint when the dates roll around...

It was good.
I learnt things.
We drank tea.
And had biscuits.
And we watched a video of a man wearing a tan coloured thong.

Can't wait till next week!
