Location: north east germany...its so lonely
I ahve the monkey knot poi and i love to play all day but when the night comes i can no longer see cos my fires keeps on going out on me!
please help i have fire water and used loads yet my poi refuse to burn for longer than 2 or 3 minutes...itss it too cold, do i spin too fast have i not soaked for long enough or with enough fuel i wana burn baby burn!!!

This is the very first time i've been the first time i've ever posted welcome to someone in the introductions thread. Yay!!!!
oh about yer question. the faster ya spin, the faster they burn, monkey fists should last ages though. Dont ask me though coz i dont do poi *cough, get a staf,f cough*
ask around though, someone is bound to be able to help better than me.

welcome monsta, as for your fire problem, have you done a search on that
also i use a 1/4 pure lamp oil 3/4 white gas and my poi burn for about 5-7 min......tyr that.........and again welcome
You can't avoid pain by fencing yourself from it.
Some times you need the help of others more than anything else
But you have to let them close enough to help......
People want to be needed, I found that out too

Its a different search to the other one. I havent checked but there might be some folks on there. try. I know of at least three people living over there now.

Monsta, I use a mix of 1 to 1 Parafin/White gas and mine go forever. The only thing that I can think of is that the center of your monkey fists doesn't have any fuel.
I have a friend that had the same problem until he let them soak for 30 minutes. Since then he just does a normal soak before spinning and he goes for ever.

Well there is a lot of wick to soak, but it will be worth it once they are broken in correctly.

: I use monkey fist too. Are you soaking them as soon as they go out? Also, i always find the first burn is shorter than all the others. 
do you cover them when you spin during the day? if not, wrap some tin foil over them to keep in the fiery goodness. Looks nicer in daylight than black kevlar and better fior the wicks! Hope this helps and happy spinning!

Welcome! it's recommened by some that you soak your wicks for 12 hours when you soak them for the first time, i soaked mine in paraffin for 24 hours and i've never had any problems.
i've seen monkey fists burn for about 8 minutes and then have to be put out with a wet towel coz they were still burning
My mind not only wanders, it sometimes leaves completely
