Hey Molly! When you getting here? I'll be constructing your hoop this evening.

What I'd really like to know - straight from you - is what your favorite colors are ....

I know that NYC has asked you this already, and I have made a couple hoops that I thought about giving to you, but I'd like to make it custom for you, based on what you tell me NOW ... OK??

Well... my favourite colour is blue, but NYC's hoop is blue.
So I think I would like an orange and red hoop please.

Would you teach me how to make them too? My mother has got overexcited with all this talk of hoopiness and would like one for herself.

And I'll be arriving on Boxing Day... wait... you don't have that... 26th anyway.

I've decided to make a hoop for myself. Hows it goin for nyc? I'm concerned about my lack of shaply hips and wiggling ability. P'raps i can get some other spinney cork folk hooped in. It looks like much fun.

i hope the little moles arm gets better soon.

and I would pay good money for a pic of nyc givin it some hip.

flights are booked for faberge and i for the 20th of january. i'll be there till the 25th, fab till the 23rd. im throwin in a visit to dundee for good measure.

I can't see the picture but I'm sure it's fine. I'm guessing it shows the lovely hoop that RBM made me while spinning at NYCDecom.

I wouldn't pinch my bum... I mean *I* don't mind but the Queen may protest if you break it.

And Orange and Red is a lovely choice. We'll keep the blue hoop here and take the orange one to Europe since it's the international colour of the EJC anyway.

And Ado, I was actually surprised that I could hoop. I've still got lots to learn but lack of hip coordination is not a problem. It's a very subtle motion once you get going.

OK ok kids, settle down!! I go away for a couple hours and you fill up a whole page.

Well, Molly, I'll tell you what ... when you get here, I'll show you all the hoops that you can choose from ... because I've now made at least three saying "I'm making this one for Molly ...." and I will happily tell you how to make them ... heck, I'll even see if I can find a supplier in the UK for the materials ... cuz shipping from Ohio would probbaly be a bit costly, I imagine. My friend and i find hoop making to be a therapuetic exercise. Just last night, she was feeling sad, so I went over to her place with piping and tape and we ate fondue, drank wine and made two lovely new hoops.

no way!! I want recognition for this! These are HOOPDEEZ(tm) hoops. Please let New York take credit for *something* ....

anyway, here's the stuff you need. Haven't had any luck finding it in the UK yet, but I'm working on it:

and here's the directions ... not that hard really. The tricky part is heating it up to fit the connectors in:

then the fun part (and my trademark) is decorating. I use gaffer's tape - but electrical tape, bumper stickers, glitter tape, really anything sticky, will do.

I know - you were hoping there was more to it than that, right? Kinda how I felt when I figured out that sock poi were just bean bags in socks ..... happy that that was all there was to it, but somehow, left feeling unsatisfied.....

alas - no luck finding a UK source yet. But then again, I'm rather an idiot at finding thigns on the net in general ... for some reason, it took me MONTHS to find the usplastics site. I may jsut have to get you a big knock-off suitcase on canal street and stuff it full of american piping. can't tell you how customs will feel about that tho .... hmmm

I got through Saudi customs with a bag containing nothing but rocks and spent bullets with the reasoning that I was a girl and therefore quite mad with No accounting for my actions.

and raisins aren't threatening really, unless massed in great numbers or possibly stuck to the ceiling like in that twiglet advert that you really won't know about at all. bother.
