Aw, square braids, very nice.

You can also do this with 6 or more instead of 4 if you want a rounder thicked column

What I wanna know is how to make a knot like the 8th ball down "Dancing Rainbow Ball" on this page:

If it would be possible to make a head like that out of rope, Id take those over monkey fists any day...

Also, imagine making some square braided heads with 1 inch thick rope... 6 strands would be even better Surface area like a cathedral but the rope is round so it has more volume.

i made my knot out of 80 cm strands and 1,5 cm think kevlar rope
try them so you dont want others they are [censored] bright and hot the best i had the last 3 years

We teach braiding (or, rather, I do), and suggest 3/8" or smaller for square braids. It's a lot harder to keep the rope strands straight as the size gets bigger. However, a round braid is a lot easier to manage than the square braid with larger rope sizes. As the ropes get larger, ease of tying decrease, partially due to a reduction in "bendability" about a given point on the rope.
