Hello, hello and welcome to the thread for all Irish fire dancers, spinners, object manipulators, drummers, musicians and anyone else interested in these arts in Ireland.
This thread was started nearly a couple of years ago now... and it's since grown to include more people, gatherings, events, fun and games than we had thought possible.
And it's still growing - so if you're new to the arts, or want to meet up with any of us, please post at the end of this thread to introduce yourself... or send me a PM with your email address and I'll add your name to our mailing list.
There are spinners, dancers and manipulators all over the country, and you'll find lots of them on here... don't be shy, we're nice

Updates on Circus/spinny gatherings around Ireland – 6 November 2006
Belfast:
Tuesday:
5pm-7pm
Streetwise (community circus) meet in Morton Community Centre (off Lisburn Road)… providing a free, indoor space to practice and learn new skills. Run by the lovely Dave from Babcock and Bobbins (on HoP as Bobbins).
8.30pm-10pm
Lisa and I take our poi workshop in Crescent Arts Centre (featuring occasional special guests when they visit
)… Please PM me if you are interested in poi lessons.
9.30/10pm-midnight
Fortnightly fire gathering in Crescent Park, Belfast (opposite The Fly bar). This is a friendly and informal gathering for anyone interested in spinning fire or learning more. Please PM me if you want to know the dates for the next gathering.
Wednesday:
7pm-9.30pm
Adult circus in Belfast Community Circus (Gordon St, Cathedral Quarter, Belfast). Weekly circus training for adults using various circusy props. £3 per week (I think).

Hope all the rest of you guys are good - have a great time at Uberstaff, all who are going.
I am having much fun and frolics over here. Have hardly done any spinning yet, but that will change this week - also, Vance has a particularly lovely acrylic CJ ball, so I'm having fun and games with that.
Btw, the Falmouth report is a little late
, suffice to say it was splendid and much firey goodness and fun was had.
All the Englishy types are marvellous and friendly and technically brilliant... I think they liked the firehands

body is bruised & broken after a fab week of snowboarding during which i took a nasty fall and did about 3 somersaults down a steep piste and then continued to slide on my head, back &(in that order) for about another 50 feet. ouch!

myself and colm here in cork are on a mission to buy a load of kevlar, ideally we want 2 100ft rolls. 1 with 2.5 inch wide wick and the other with 4 inch wide wick.
If we all chipped in we cold get loads and loads and save big time on the shipping
SO anybody want some wick? place your orders, dont forget i get a 15% discount on th HOP shop and they are already running at 20% off....

diana and coleen from the circus have been migrating down south to us a good bit too so its all good,
we have a gig at a fashion show in a couple of weeks. we're wearing suits!!!

Hiya irish folks, I'm in belfast right now, for the first time in my life. Strange enough seeing as i lived in ireland for 15 years But is anyone up for a spin tonight? I've only got today off, a day of work got cancelled. Very short notice i know :P
Anyway I'll be in galway in the middle of june for a couple of weeks, am willing to travel and i will be looking for spinners

As some of you may already know i'm coming home next week, so i for one will be at the TCD and DIT juggling nights in the coming weeks - once i get over the jet-lag of flying directly home from New Zealand to Dublin that is.

SOOOO Much going on....I dont look at the damn bords for a day and look what happens...!!! Any one interested in goin to the UV show In Galway on the 23 of April ? should be a very healthy dose of juggling and spinning related malarchy... HAH i used the Word Malarchy!
Would anyone be interested in meeting up some time and Showing the Tara video to me ?? ? i really wanted to go but work was being annoying and i got a new phone that weekend and had no numbers : (
also Faberge any chance i could see the Dublin Fire show video aswell ? ? ?

ahh, cameron.... you called me Faberge, how sweet yeah sure, youse'll all have to come over to mine some evening that we're not doing anything and we can watch the tapes and spin in the garden. it's a communal garden so it's huuuuuuuge, we can invite everyone
clare petal, how's things? you will be delighted to know that the past few weeks have been totally dedicated to poi, been working on some really funky isolations. haven't picked up my sticks since tara. not good, i'll be making a fool of meself at uberstaff this weekend what's going on in berlin. i read an article last week about an open-air film festival being held there soon, sounded like it might be your cup of tea...

yeh, i think i'll be heading to galway next weekend. haven't spent a weekend at home in about 8 weeks so why change things now.....

I've been nothing but performing for the last six weeks and im having the time of my life. Not to mention earning enough to get me out of this country for a few years
In saying that, I've been doing nothing but practise when im not on the street and its just as much fun.

Clare you are officially our international member.
I'd also like to announce the opening of the
Limerick Community Circus
This is being set up by myself and amelie and at the moment takes place once a week in the Peoples Park at the bad stand for 'Circus Sunday'. Its free and its for everyone. So far the response has been great and loads of interest from the kiddies and adults alike. We hope to apply for some funding and grants as soon as we have a stable base of attendance and teachers.
