Posted: aloha peoples. just wondering if anyone else here suffers from rsi, and if you do what you do to help it. Im a computer junkie and got it that way, but lately when ive been practising with my staff i have been getting really achy. i am relatively new in the staff world so maybe my hand is just getting used to it? hmmmm I don't want to stop playing so any secret herbal remedies anyone?
Posted: It probably depends where your pain is and what actions caused. I had RSI in my wrist which had become hyper-extended, but within a few weeks of taking up juggling (which strengthened it significantly) it had improved to the point where I get no pain and it is nearly as strong as it ever was.
Improving all round fitness is generally accepted to help with RSI injuries also.
Vary your moves as much as possible and if it starts hurting, stop.
Perhaps take up poi instead??!!

Posted: hey ya sepa. i do poi as well , but have been getting into staff alot lately. staff is lurvely i have the prob in the fleshy part part between the thumb and index finger ... i got it from too much clicking with the mouse with my arm in an awkward position..
thanks for ya advice, i will take it easy and vary my moves.... now all i need to do is learn some.
Posted: Ye I started recently too, and my wrist did hurt for a bit, and when it did I relaxed it for a little while, put some heat on it, excersised and stretched it a bit, and the next day I was good to go...
Every morning I wake up and hit the ground yawning...
I remember getting that very same pain between thumb & index finger. Also in my wrist... although that would only happen when I'd be eagerly working on one new moove, until I got it. I think the best thing is to take it easy and don't over do one thing... Well I'm repeating what's already been said so I'll stop
*:...one day all the fairy fridges will be aligned and my pixie world will be complete...:*
