the other day i mentioned to my dad about how rad it would be to light the ends of my staff or nunchucks on fire and he freaked out and banned me from this website for getting crazy ideas.

this makes me sad, cos i've been practicing for a long time (not long enough for fire, but still..) and he thinks i'm not any good..

think there's anything i can do to change his mind?

make the change gradual is he not ready to accept fire just yet.
show to heem how well you can twirl sans fire to appease him and gain confeedance.
talk more to him about safety than about making/doing dangerous shiznit.
but communication i find is da best. hug

not usre this is the best idea to use esp with your rents! you may upset him more thna you realise, parents are always saying this to ppl on here, and i am lucky that my rents aint to strict on it, cos i have shown them what i do and made them have a go to resect it more......

but they are a lil unhappy atm i burnt myself badly in the inside of my upperright forarm, so thats gotta heal before i do more fire!

just talk to your old man, like bender says, and im sure after you show him what it is you do and were you wanna go he will understand, have you shown him some vids?

how old are you?

take him to some events and show him its sfae, have you donw fire at all yet?

laterdays

Ok, not too sound all parental and lame - but if anyone says to their parents "Hey dad, wouldn't it be rad to set fire to my staff" I can fully understand why they would say "No".
It doesn't really sound like an ultra-responsible, safety-concerned person looking to develop their skills and put on an amasing display. It sounds like an over-excited kid looking to set things on fire cos it's cool and will look raaaaaaaaaaad (man) umm

Why not explain to your dad why you want to move on to fire - show him your staff work unlit, show him some videos off of the site of fire staff and prove to him you're aware of the risks involved...

there's practicly no danger if you use the staff from the shop here and if you use the right fuel.

just dont do it inside

and just do it

First of all show your dad what you can do with a staff. then show him some videos of people doing it on fire. Then take him to the safety section of this site an sit down and go through all the precautions with him. explain why you want to do it (i.e. performance) as well. then see if he can suppervise you having a burn.

this might work. i'm just glad that i discovered all this stuff after i moved away from home and became a responsible adult myself... Good Luck! biggrin

Recently,i have found that this thread makes me chuckle more than others as on the menu screen it says:
"Fire staff makes me we..."

maybe people will think that you are trying to express the fact that fire staff makes you horny?

or maybe even need to go to the toilet.

I'll just shuttup now.

Given some of the rather dubious advice on this thread that's possibly not such a bad thing!

Why is it that everthing which is fun is illegal, immoral, or fattening?

I'm not saying it is your fault! Just that I agree with what Durbs posted on the previous page.

Hope the person who started this thread is able to carry on spinning and persuade his folks.

Why is it that everthing which is fun is illegal, immoral, or fattening?

Perhaps it's time to think before we give out advice to people.

I'll be the first person to laugh and joke around on here, but when bad safety advice is being given out to people it scares me!!

I don' think anyone is trying to blame anyone here, I feel it's something that we should all think about!!!

ok rant over...
