The Poi "I just learned a new advanced move / combo" thread

I just learned something new!!! I got it from 3stringing so you need 3 poi. Now imagine a 2bt weave, but your right hand (or left, just the hand you use 2 poi with), have the second poi bouncing side to side on your hips. I's a weird atomic thing and it looks amazing!!!

SoD that sounds like the one handed superman. There was a video of that posted on the tech poi forums on FB. Is this where you got that from?

It is indeed the one handed superman, but add in your other hand doing a weave with the other poi that's not bouncing back and forth And I got it from a 3stringing video but I did see that post on there.

Personal milestone: finally getting consistent with three contact moves (arm rolls from cradle, from a palm hold, and from a toss) to the point of starting to be able to work them into real spinning. Also getting staggered tosses over my shoulders from btb.

@SoD Nice, the 3rd poi makes it crazier thats for sure XD

@S11 Toss contact rolls are crazy hard, I haven't managed to one yet. I do love the throw the poi head into my hand and use the momentum of the falling handle to start a contact roll from my palm. I have been working on that a lot sense I made my contact poi.

I've finally nailed a few things I've been working on.

-Horizontal Cateye vs Vertical Cateye (in both same time and split time, opposites)
-Horizontal Cateye Weave in split time opposites (working on split time, same direction)
-Being able to spin/turn/whirl(whatever term is correct ) in either direction with standard and box mode antispin flowers in split time, same direction; same time, opposites; and split time, opposites.
-Antispin crosser in split time same direction
-Snake arms. These are fun.

Ah, the elusive horizontal cateye. Every once in a while I can do two or three in a row... Maybe now that my Stage One Contact Intensive, Code: Benny Hill's Eyebrows (I made a file on it just so I could name it that) is coming to a close I can get back to that one. I distract so easily sometimes...

finally learned how to do the reverse dodging daggers but it needs a bit of cleaning up got a few new things i'm gonna be making some vids for as well

Antispin crossers! Known how they worked for a while now, but always had issues with plane control during the back plane passes. Huzzah! Love these things!

Continual half circle CAP's flowers. The Butterfly and the weave one..

Weave big/little circle wheel plane, where the little circle pass BTB.

-Three beat parallel weave where the first beat is crosser.
-Alternate wheel plane reel with snakes at each side.

Right, backward butterfly, wall plane, vertical CAP flower,
where the [bottom-> top] half is half circle CAP and the
[top->bottom] half is simple long arm. You can tune this
move by changing the half circle with the CAP from left
to right.

-While in a straight jacket, do a 2-beat weave.
-the matrix using the 4-beat corkscrew(now that back bends don't kill me, they're actually quite fun.)
-loads of tracing in many locations

-Poi buttefly, hands alternate, flower, turning
-Poi alternate, hands buttefly, wall plane,
vertical caps
-Wheel plane, 2B, parallel weave, with doing
the firs beat with the hand at opposite
side behind the back.

just learned how to do a wibble! not real clean yet but in a month it will be awesome

- 90 degree stalls (Pendulum vs stall), to outline the four corners of a square.
- Snakes
- TTN Butterfly Crosser

Fun variation on the first I just started playing with: With both hands, alternate between stall and pendulum, so each poi spins 3/4 turn and takes turns being the upstall. Makes a fun transition into 90 degree stall chasers.

Finally pulled off the move i derisively refer to as the super noodle! (uta crosser with one arm doing waist wrap reel)

Iso vs. horizontal cateye. Boom! Needs cleaning, but who doesn't?

I'm re-discovering all the old stuff in a clear, straight arm reel form thus assume advanced:

-wall plane butterfly long arm extension(the upper reel one)
-parralel antispin

had a huge breakthrough with wall-plane flowers this weekend. previously I had practiced the one where each poi traces one half of a four-petal antispin flower (right poi starting on top, left on bottom, each poi spinning to the left) and then loops back to the starting point via extension.

well last weekend I took that a bit further and now I can do the full four petals, looping back to the starting point either via extension or a tight circle (which looks more badass imo). felt good.

lot of work to be done - need to smooth out all the different modes and directions - but I feel like being able to start and end wall plane flowers with arms fully crossed is a big hurdle to have behind me. and I was feeling rather aimless lately, so it's nice to finally have a huge yet very specific set of things to work on.

also want to learn that damn triquetra/extension flower pattern, but hey, one thing at a time.

is that like a wall plane flower in opposites? just curious because I am working on the same thing, if so. although I prefer one poi antispin, one poi extension.
