i have few complains about the competition.
i took the second place. and i believe that the guy ho took the first place broke few rules.

1) it had to be a your own MADE desktop wallpaper.
so the picture of the first place is only a PHOTO which isnt a wallpaper. and it isnt MADE its only took by a photografer. so that take to the second rule:
2) Image must be of your own creation. if he is in the photo it couldnt be hes own creation! then the prise should go to the photographer.
3) i think that the picture isnt the size you asked to make.

in conclusion. i think you should diskvalife him becose its not a made desktop wallpaper its a PHOTO which isnt the same as a wallpaper.

i worked hard to make my desktop wallpaper.

i demand justice

Official Statement on Results.

It was borderline as to the qualification of entries in a number of cases. Which meant our rules were not the best in this competition.
I have run a script to remove additional votes that came from the same computers, which rules do allow for.
This has meant that many entries lost votes, because of eager voters or friends not voting correctly (deleting cookies, etc).
This has caused previous winner to now be moved to 2nd place and we have a new winner.
Sorry for the trouble.

I hope friendships will not be lost, because of my fault.

well I was generally impressed with the quality of entries and was pretty pleased to come 14th! look forward to the next one

I wish that complaint didn't came from Algirdas, whose entry was not something that I would like to put on my desktop. Well, if that was working hard, I guess I (and many others) worked harder. I have no complaints on coming the 5th, cause it seems like a competition of having more friends to vote, instead of the best desktop wallpaper, and I wasn't expecting that much for myself.

I don't think that it's fair to change the winner after the announcement.

I see this topic is kinda old, but there is something I would like to say:

1. Look at this link Evidence it shows that this image was copied and used in Algirdas's wallpaper.
2. If you search you'll definitely find the man which is holding torches on the right of wallpaper on the net.
3. This was wallpaper competition and I think all the wallpapers had to be perfectly made. Algirdas left visible gaps (like the one under the letter "I" Evidence Nr. 2 the red shadow under letters alignment and few more [/URL]
In my opinion Algirdas just found right photos on the net and made his wallpaper in ~10 min.

Algirdas, are you sure you weren't cheating, too?

I think that in this kind of competition you had to put your best skills and if you upload it, you need to make sure it has no gaps. If you upload photo you can edit it making more spectacular. For example if Indie73 would edit his (-er) photo it would take 1st place for sure.

I would like to offer HoP team at next competition to put winning money something like this:
1st place - 150$
2nd place - 100$
3rd place - 50$

There would be some prizes for 2nd, 3rd places, too.

Maybe, I'm saying this because I won 3rd place . Well... Yeah, I wish if I have won anything in that competition (now I had to buy Flowtoys by myself)

mods - I think the rules need a seerious clarification.

Click on "Download full size" then right mouse click on wallpaper and "Save image as..."

I agree that the rules need to be a bit more explicit with what is expected and what is wanted and such.

I think the original problem was the confusion over:

- Image must be of your own creation
and
- All submitted entries must be the original work of the submitter.

and what exactly the above means.

Personally I would put a ban on company logos/straplines/etc. as the last thing I want on my desktop is an advert for somebody. In general, I'm not a fan of words on my desktop.

Unless someone did a complete poi/staff move family tree. That would be win.
