The Official Liverpool Meet Thread

hey luciano, welcome to HoP. We're just starting to make the meets a more regular thing, so you've come at a good time really. I think the next meet is going to be a week on sunday (october 12th) we meet around 7pm at St.James's gardens, which are located to the side of the anglican cathedral.
Do you by chance have a profile on Facebook? if so, look up the liverpool fire art academy, thats us, and that gets updated with all the information about meets, aswell as other social events.
p.m myself, flamer, or loewan if you need more info.

There seems to have been a lot of people who got lost in attempt to find St James Park. Here's a map of the place:



We usually hook up in the clearing marked (7) on the map. If you walk up China Town side then you will be on the right of the map and should see the Cathedral (2) and weird building (6). The path down to the park will be next to the entrance to the cathedral.

So the next fire meet is going to be this Sunday then?

guys and girls...check out www.gotpoi.com its a new site started up by liverpool spinners, some of you may know them. one or two of them used to come to our meets back in the day. i've been talking to their poi instructor joey about a possible joint venture between the liverpool fire art academy and them to extend the network of spinners on merseyside. what do you guys think?

The psytrance night sounds tops! In case there is going to be another one in Manchester as well the weekend before that called Illuminaughty and they are going to have a special pyro themed night!

Wow! Gotpoi sounds awesome! Not sure about the whole £25 for 10 weeks charge tho. I wouldn't mind chipping in towards the electricity and put down a couple of coins per visit but I am not sure I want to tie myself down on £25.

i wasn't talking about us using the space, or going to the workshops, merely us and them merging as a network of spinners. We have the ability to point newbies in their direction, so they can learn and develop their skills in a learning orientated environment. Then, once said newbies feel they have the skills they need to spin with fire, they point them back i our direction, and the network of merseyside spinners gets bigger.

anybody checked out power plant in calderstones park yet? it looks pretty good. would anybody recommend it?

Honestly? I have never really paid for the pleasure of the art during my time (apart from going to festivals) so maybe I am a little sceptical in the whole concept of paying to learn. I mean I would never say no to meeting new spinners nor would I stop fellow spinners from parting with their hard earned money but what's the point if people could acquire knowledge for free? If the money goes towards solely towards the cost like rent then its all cool, but I think its a little weird if some people think they are good enough to get paid for teaching when the likes of MCP are releasing online tutorials for free.


Anyway, a reminder for everyone for Poi in the Park!!! There is going to be a mass attendance from Manchester and it looks like its going to be a big one because of the cancelled Play this summer! If you still haven't booked your bedspace, you really should book it now!
