Ok...

So, I'm not going to comment on all the entries, just a few of the ones I liked more...

In general, the essence of COL remained... some good clips, some not so good... but the overall standard is definitely improved (as more 'moves' become popular, and people see what others are doing).

There were loads that seemed badly lit (but that might be to do with the DVD compression?!)...

There were also quite a few spinners who seemed to move without any real passion or energy for it (in my opinion). Of course, this is up to the individual - its just something I like to see. However, I do think it's important for performers to act with passion, and there were quite a few who didn't.


My favourites:

Zaobab - A worthy winner Brilliant scenery, great character and skills, his choice of music completely fitted his surroundings and he moved with that. Great work Dai... I'm really glad you entered Hope to see you soon!

MCP - Really should have been either joint first or second. I love this vid, and can watch it over and over again. Great musicality, amazing skills (of course!), elegant movement (not necessarily wiggly, but graceful), well shot and has a lovely energy.

Sandstone/Bender - Great movement and expression, scenery, skills, fans and props use... and nice costume lovely vid, bit too long slow mo though

Fire Groove - Great promo vid, gorgeous shots, costumes, people... great movement and performance.


I also enjoyed:

M32 - Great work by Sandy, lovely shots, great editing...

Poism - lovely story, skills and movement

Poi Story - Great energy, lovely people and skills. Fantastic two person patterns - as you'd expect with these two!

Nosh - I liked it more on the third watch... good editing, and it's fun.

Also good:

Astro (good skills and hair), Ring of Fire (big smiles), Ninaruna (nice story), Burning Match (fun fight), Michael Farrell & Noelski (good energy), Infinitos, Elias.


So... well done to everyone who entered... it's loads of work and effort to put in a video to this competition, and well done to Dai

Btw, there is one entry you haven't seen!!!

It seems it got left out accidentally, but I think it's a fantastic video, with great musicality, beautiful shots, and just generally lovely...

It's by Synge (the guy who did the video at the end of COL 2006 with the cool pics and hardcore music )
