you guys arent factoring in the rotational movement of the solar System around the galactic core, or the expansional movement of our galaxy from the centre of the universe! If you were truly to make someone sit still they would vanish from site at an extremely high speed! (relatively speaking)

sit still?
relative to what?

There is a speed of dark. It is the speed of light. For pretty damn obvious reasons.

speed of dark is obviously quicker because it always gets places before the light has even heard of them

and as terry pratchett says the only thing faster than the speed of light is the speed of succession - instantaeous all the kingons and qeeons and stuff

on a serious note the question is a bit odd as "darkness" doesn't actually exist oh and neither does cold both are privatives and are descriptions given the absence of light and heat you may as well talk about phlogiston (sp.) being the stuff in everything that burns

In the immortal words of Monty Python...

Just remember that you're standing on a planet that evolving, Revolving at 900 miles an hour.
It's orbiting at 19 miles a second, so it's reckoned,
A sun that is the source of all our power.

The sun and you and me and all the stars that we can see,
Are moving at a million miles a day,
In an outer spiral arm, at 40,000 miles an hour,
Of a galaxy we call the Milky Way.

Our galaxy itself contains 100 billion stars,
It's 100,000 light years side to side,
It bulges in the middle, 16,000 light years thick,
But out by us it's just 3,000 light years wide.

We're 30,000 light years from galactic central point,
We go around every 200 million years,
And our galaxy is only one of millions of billions,
In this amazing and expanding universe...
*giggles* well if you want to be pedantic if you where to hang around not moving then by then end of the day the earth would be about 1.6 million miles away from the earth so while you would technically see 25000 miles of the earth pass by you might need a pretty good telescope to notice. :P
obviously you would be sitting in a magical chair that could stay above the earth as it moves, duh!

And if you were watching the world pass by, how long would it take?
