Update 03/02/07

*Pre-registration will close on the 1st of June* - you can register online or download the pre-reg form for your country and register through your local EJA rep

Update 19/03/07
Pre-reg prices now available on the official EJC 2007 website

I thought I'd start an EJC 2007 thread in the events forum.

EJC 2007 will take place from July 30th to August 5th 2007 in the Helliniko Olympic Complex, Athens, Greece.

Their official website is now live, and will be updated regularly. Pre-registration is not yet open, but I will add info on that as soon as it is.

Curious about the site? It is the site of the old Athens airport, and has large air conditioned halls. It is also on the sea. These photos, courtesy of Toby and Phillip from the EJC 2008 Karlsruhe team may help.

More info will be added to this thread as it becomes available.

Hope to see you all there

Helen

Disclaimer: I am not involved with the organisation of this year's EJC, but as I am now an EJA rep, i may be able to answer some questions.

Yep, it's going to be hot. From experience at Burning Man though, i'd recommend covering your tent in reflective emergency blankets - the tin foil like things - because it keeps the sun out, and the tent cool. And kind of makes your tent look like a spaceship They're not expensive, and make a big difference.

Also if you put up an awning over your tent, that will offer some shade, further helping it to be a bit cooler.

plus the quest of finding a spot that's shaded in the morning by the shadow of a building is always a good plan.

The building is on the western edge of the site, which unfortunately means that finding morning shade from it isn't an option for campers!

Pre-registration through your local friendly country rep will open soon - fliers are currently being translated. UK people will be able to pre-reg through Ali at the BJC as far as I know.

Please pre-register. Really, please please pre-register.

If you don't pre-register, the convention organisers don't know how much money they have to make a better convention for you. Last year, EJC Millstreet's pre-registration was so low that it meant that we:

1. Cancelled a big top
2. Couldn't invite some artists who we wanted there
3. Couldn't afford to decorate the site, the hall, the fire area etc.
4. Couldn't afford an extra PA for random music around the site
5. Couldn't make costumes/banners etc for the parade, or a nice backdrop for the stage
6. Couldn't buy nice little thank you gifts for volunteers (we wanted to)
7. Had many many sleepless nights - at one stage it looked as if we would make a massive loss.

In the end, we could have done all of the above - but we didn't know that, because so few people pre-registered.

Hope to see you all there

*Bumpedy bump*

The Pre-registration deadline is June 1st* - save yourself some cash, and the organisers some headaches by pre-registering if you're going to Greece this year

And to see why, here's some more info from the Official EJC 2007 website

Artists

Erik Aberg-Sweden

Erik is a full-time juggler living in Stockholm-Sweden. Having graduated from Stockholm’s Circus school he has spent a lot of time exploring new ways and patterns in his juggling techniques. He practises juggling and manipulation with clubs, rings, devil-sticks and other, less juggling oriented props. Erik finds it refreshing and stimulating to do many different disciplines. Show wise he has collaborated with Circo Aereo in Finland (with director Maksim Komaro), as well as Louisiana Circus and Circo Nouveaux. In 2006 he created his own company, and toured with Jay Gilligan and Marcus Monroe.

There are lots of "budget airlines". I can only suggest looking to see for cheap deals?
In the UK there's Ryan Air, Easyjet, BMI baby, British Airways... um can't think of anymore at the moment.

You're going from Play aren't you? Me and Conor are going from Gatwick on the Monday straight from play. We got our return flights for £115 from Easyjet.
