Apple mac owners

Polarity,, funilly enough we ripped an ibook apart yesterday morning heheh,, top giggle although not quite as mental as ripping apart on of the 12" G4 lappies

The funniest thing I've ever done to a mac was dropped it three stories into a skip while clearing out the physics department of my old school. One of the old all in one performas that hadn't worked in years...

Mine's a clamshell G3. Flip the catches on the keyboard, and there's the hard drive, sitting under a little metal cage thing. But you can't get it out until you've undone damn near every screw on the thing, and reduced it to a huge huge number of parts you have to remember how to assemble.

Those colorful Macs looked way better than the boring white plastic lumps the new i/powerbooks are. When I get mine it's definately getting a makeover, warranty be damned.

I think Pen means the disassembly instructions.

My iBook is covered in Jaig and SuicideGirls stickers and tonnes of soot from being stuffed in a bag with my fire gear (a non-warranty voiding makeover )

Ohh polarity didn't know you meant one of those,, i once had to swap the drive from one to another whilst sat crosslegged on the concourse at Heathrow terminal 3,, really bugged the security guards at the time hehehe Much fun

Try carrying 6 hard drives through Turkish customs, stuffed right in the middle of a rucksack and padded with loads of foam. Took me a good 15 minutes to get them out, and another half hour to repack, and held up the entire queue at one of their x-ray machines. The cheapest flights to Japan were with Turkish Airlines, and stopped over in Turkey, but I made sure I paid extra for a direct flight the next time because I don't ever want to go back there after being treated like something you'd find on the bottom of your shoe (not fun after 16 hours on a plane with no sleep). Something tells me most Turks hate anyone who looks remotely like a hippy.

The most fun ever to be had in an airport: Visit Saudi Arabia in 2002 with your physics professor father to demonstrate laser technology to one of their oil companies then three months later try and get into America on the same passport. 100 points for every hour you have to spend in immigration explaining exactly what you were doing in Saudi. 1000 bonus points if your Saudi visa is on the page next to the American visa. 1000 more bonus points if you can then produce a Canadian passport.

I love being dual nationality especially when I go over to France and wind up the French customs by flashing my Canadian passport and telling them I'm looking for a job...

Back on topic. I've been told to turn my iBook off on a plane twice. Once because it was making a "whirring" noise while I was watching a DVD and the other time because I was watching the Pilot episodes of Lost on a Glasgow to London flight...

I had intended to move to Japan permanently, and would have got much satisfaction posting my British passport to Tony Blair with a letter saying 'Your country sucks. I won't be needing this any more'. Unfortunately emigrating isn't easy when you're on indefinate disability benefits.

The second time out I kind of surprised people by eating the Japanese airplane food (skillfully with chopsticks, of course) and watching all the Japanese films (albeit subtitled).

You wouldn't've heard the whirring where I was sat. One of the engines was making some wierd noises

My trip to Japan allowed me to ship 7x30Kg boxes of computers home, nearly all of which I got for free over there

I had plenty of reasons for wanting to move, but 100Mb ADSL in a remote mountain valley for ~£20/month and 128Kb wireless for the same amount is one I think you'll agree is pretty sweet.

mmmmm fast connection goodness <drools> One Reason i like doing Tech in london is our uber fast web link (of course being incharge of the firewall helps immensely hehehe)

Fluck no,, i went the other way and work for people that pay money hehe although i cut my teeth working at an apple dealers back in the day
