Pre-registration is now open

A quick FAQ:

1. What is pre-registration?

Pre-registration is basically booking your entrance ticket to the EJC in advance, rather than buying on the door.

2. Why pre-register?

Pre-registration is vital for us, the organisers to plan the best convention for you. It helps us to predict how many people will attend - which means we can plan the logistics of the site - how many toilets, showers etc we will need.
It also helps us with budgetary planning - if we have some idea of how much money we will have to spend, we can plan our entertainment programme - your pre-reg money might help us to make our site more beautiful, or to invite more artists to attend, for example. If you wait to pay at the door, we can't use that money to make a better convention for you, because it's too late - everything has already been booked!

3. How much does it cost?

Adults: €90 (17 years and over)
Teenagers (12 - 16 years): €45
Children (0 - 11 years): free

If you wait to pay at the door, it will be significantly more expensive - around €120 for an adult, although this is not confirmed yet.

4. How do i pre-register?

You can pre-register online, via credit card, or through cheque or bank transfer with your national EJA rep. All details are available here

5. If I'm a volunteer, do I still have to pay?

Yes. I've pre-registered too. So have all of our team. We are running on an EXTREMELY tight budget, and while we will try to thank you in some way for giving up some of your time, we cannot let you in for free.

6. Why is it more expensive than last year?

Because costs are higher here. We are still running the EJC as a non-profit event, and trying to keep it as cheap as possible, but Ireland is an expensive country. Other Irish HoPpers will testify that the price of concerts, festivals etc here is very high, and that the EJC is very good value for money. For example, see
Global Gathering's website . Global Gathering was a 12 hour dance festival (2pm - 2am) held in the Green Glens Arena, in Millstreet - the same site as the EJC in July 2005. Their price - €81 including 1 night's camping. Our price - €90 including 7 nights camping. A pretty good deal i hope you'll agree!

Please feel free to post any questions, suggestions here, and i'll try to respond. I'm really interested to hear all of your ideas about how to make this year's EJC the best yet

Just a quick post to let you all know that forums have been added to the website - if you want to arrange lifts to Millstreet, chat generally, ask questions, whatever...

Thanks to all for the continued support

hi helen,

i've had issues with the prereg online credit card system and no reply from either the info@ or prereg@ email addresses

i imagine you guys are pretty busy right now, but prereg deadline is approaching and i've only got tickts for half of the party i'm travelling with right now...

will try chasing up again next week and if no joy, will try the new forums

OH HELLEN I HAVE A REALLY GOOD IDEA!

Sometimes in years past some of the Jedi teachers have been tentative to put up classes until later in the week (One of those "I'll wait and see what everyone else is teaching first" kind of things.) Those years haven't been as good workshop wise as when the Jedi showed up and immidiately put up 3-5 workshops.

I think it would be REALLY helpful to give a flattering poke to some of those teachers we'd like to have teach poi and staff workshops so they'll have it in their mind for the week.

There have been very large vairance in the quality of the poi education throughout the week and I'd love for this year to be full of intermediate and advanced classes.

(Which reminds me, Karma has told me I should teach a beginning plate spinning class. )

There are direct flights to Kerry Airport from Frankfurt (with Ryanair). At 48km from Millstreet, Kerry Airport is actually nearer than Cork Airport. You can then get a bus or train from there to Millstreet - cheaper and quicker And the bus from Dublin is WAY cheaper than the train. See Bus Eireann (go into the "your journey" tab, and then select "journey planner" to plan a route.

And NYC - we've already been in touch with some of the Jedi set, so i'm expecting an outstanding series of workshops

And in my experience, you tend to see requests for all levels of poi and staff workshops, from beginner right up to Jedi, on wishlists at conventions, so don't be shy people, give workshops! It's a great way to meet people. And don't be embarassed if you don't feel you're the best spinner there - just honestly describe the level of the workshop that you want to give so people know what to expect.

thank-you for pushing my query forward helen

all sorted and pre-registered now

did you get my private message?

if you have enough poi workshops already that's great, but it would be handy to know either way

Sorry Coleman, i really thought i had replied to your pm

Yes please! The more workshops the better - and i have heard very good things about yours from Uber-poi etc How many workshops were you thinking of doing? We're going to look at starting to schedule workshops, although most of that gets done during the week, in the workshops sign up area, mainly because we don't really have the time to sort it all out in advance But please, as NYC points out, put yourself on the board sooner rather than later

Thank you so much for offering

If Cole doesn't have his workshops up then there aren't enough poi workshops up yet.
