That's quite an interesting experiment. I might just give it a go on the tub train in rush hour this evening

I'm all for hugginess, especially in festival land. With a complete strangers elsewhere though, it's just a recipe for a smack in the mouth.

Hihi I like hugs

When i don't know the people i always ask before i hug them, some people don't like to be touched by strangers, use the smiling experiment for a few years now. That means when you smile to a person they will smile to antoher etc. etc. etc.

I love the huggalicious one! I am sad that it is not a word my friend made up (she thought she did) but I want it anyway...in better for me colors.
I think I am going to make one that says hug on one boob and me on the other. That should be an interesting experiment

In my burlesque classes I give homework. One of them is that you have to make eye contact with a stranger and smile at them (not in a creepy way, but in a genuine happy way), and not only see what happens but see how it makes you feel.
The overall response, they smile back and it makes the initiator feel better about him/herself and then s/he feels the desire to smile more. It turns into an uplifting cycle.

Except for one student who is shy, and the woman struck up a conversation with her which made her a bit nervous. But the student went with it, and the lady helped her pick a nice pair of shoes! So she got a smile, the feel good feeling AND a pair of shoes, just for functioning outside her comfort zone.

I hugged a man in B & Q just now for helping me find the right bits to fix my toilet. He seemed a bit taken aback but he didn't run away screaming!
