Flame burst when starting to swing

this question is probably already answered, but i dunno how it is called. someone told me about staffswingers turning around their staff when they start so you have this big flame burst thingie.

he told me this was able for poi to let them 'roll' over the ground very quick.

anyone knows this or can do this? is there a term for it?

Its called a burn off. With poi you can do this by spinning in circles as fast as you can with your poi dragging on the ground around you. This makes a big flaming circle around you if you use lighter fluid or white gas so be careful! Also gets you dizzy right quick.
