( Updated from 2005) Wicker Man 2006

Little Celtic Festival to celebrate Beltane held by the Druids at Butser Ancient Farm, Last year we had over 1000 people turn up, if anyone's interesting in coming along just post. If you need directions then ask. It would be great for a good turn out, my B-Day's 2 days later and I'd like to set it off with a bang...or a roar.

Sounds good. Heard about it on an archaeological field trip to look at the reconstructed iron age farm and roman villa. I'm trying to organise a minibus down from london with the pagan society and the fire spinners at uni. Still waiting for confirmation on that but I know a few spinners (and pagan spinners!) who will probably be up for this.

Good good. As far as I know, the event starts at 6:00pm, There will be folk singers (the good kind) of traditional music, I'm sure there is a ale tent, lots of family orientated things too. As for the spinning, there will again most likely be a large paddock set aside. The Wicker Man Burning will start with a procession through the Ancient Farm and will probably be anytime between 8:00 or 9:00. Things will probably close down at around 10:30 to 11:00 ish, not sure about the full details, but I'll keep posted.

I've been there for the last couple of years, and hope to be there again this year! Good fun, Have to see if there are any club nights (that are not crap) on in Portsmouth afterwards, or go for a spin on the beach if it's nice.

It's a plan. Hope the weather will be as good as last year.

wooo found something near me! i live in portsmouth...but where is this mysterious hill?!?!

OK. Coming from Portsmouth, take the A3, which is the North East Motorway out of Portsmouth, for about 14 miles, following signs for Petersfield. You should see a hill on the right with a Windmill on (Windmill Hill O.o"), which means your not only going in the right direction, but your close. Take the slip-road off, following signposts for Chalton, and the entrance is on the road into the village. The Ancient Farm is sign-posted on the Motorway and on the junction by the slip road. For ease, I have provided a Multi-Map. Just reduce the zoom for a better sence of location. I'm not quite sure what the quickest route from any other direction is, but hope you can all find your way there.

If I'd read your post last night LazyAngel I could say yes. >< Sorry. If you catch the train coming in to Portsmouth, Petersfield is en-route and is about 10 mins away, I think a bus service runs to Chalton from the Town Centre.

This thread is about a Beltane celebration in Hampshire. The one you're thinking of is in Galloway (and rather good fun it is too).
