Hmm im not sure this deserves to be in the movie thread so im hoping I can get away with it, please.
I just saw the Incredibles and well it was incredible, I was properly into it all the way through and it I havent felt like that abouta film for a while, it was amazing! Possibly up there with Toy Story, congrats to Pixar! It still amazes me what computers can make, and I have trouble trying to get soemthing in photoshop trying to work! If you are going to see a film soon, make sure you go see the Incredibles!! I wasnt too keen on seeing it but now that I have, whoa, seeing it again. Cantus, Bugis will love it go take him to it!

i saw it last night at a preview , and wow it was very kick ass!
only one or two prob with it, on a geek level (seperation of eye lids from maks, and her hair at times looked like barbie plugs, but still)
its one of the best ones they ahve made in a while, a total hit for me!

KJ and I went to see it Saturday and I have to say we were both surprised at how dark some of the content was for a Pixar film. Definitely not a complaint mind you, we both thought it was a fantastic film. Most enjoyable. Not sure about the look of their next film, "Cars" though. They trailed it before Incredibles (unsurprisingly) and it looks like a bit of a step backwards. Dreamworks might be catching up. Their "Robots" looks quite a bit funnier and better made. Time will tell I guess.

Yeh Cars didnt look that good, I liked their animated short Boundin' that was so funny oh and anyone who goes to see The Incredibles, dont do what i did waiting for the end of the credits for Pixars trademark outtakes, cos they arent any

and your right quix about the whole darkness thing, it definetly seemed slightly more for the elder generation. pixar seem to be doing that a lot now, moment we see an animation you instantly think children, but there are getting too many jokes directed at adults n teenagers. kids want to see people falling and slipping and being silly, whereas now there is too much dialogue n things, but i dont mind, i love them still

Oh there's definitely still an air of "kids film" to Incredibles, the audience when I was there Saturday was quite the mix. It was a sold out theatre and everything from kids to pensioners were there enjoying the film. I wasn't nescessarily talking about dialogue and the pitch of the jokes. More the tone. I mean it's hard to get to the point of this without spoilers but I never thought I'd see Pixar have some of those things happen in their films. Even the suggestion of them. Very dark moments. But very well handled and an excellent piece of cinema. For all ages.

I didn't find it much darker than the darkest parts of Finding Nemo. And I absolutely LOVED it. It was classic Pixar, which I didn't think it would be having seen the trailers. All the kids seemed to totally enjoy it, too, which was nice "That was TOTALLY WICKED!!!" I nearly wet myself laughing

i agree that the incredibles has darker intonations to the other pixar movies - nemo had no suggestions of grizzly and painful deaths.
the incredibles has them aplenty - they're just presented in a lighter manner.
*note to self - buy pixar box set at first opportunity*

if you think about it
this IS the first real film they have made
the first film that has true links to real human, and real human emotions
finding nemo, toy story, bugs life, were all based on human emotions, but were still abstract, they were fish, toys, and bugs, not human
i think to break from what they have done before and to take the next step, they made the human characters, more real by giving them "truer" human traits and emotions
nemos farther went across the sea to find him, yes this would most of the time happen with a parent, they would go to find their child, but also a real human would show much more emotion than nemos dad did, and this is reflected in the surreal feel of finding nemo, but not in the incredible!
maybe its just me, and i dont think i have explained it well

and i actually think nemo's dad displayed a lot of emotion when nemo disappeared! he was going mad! i loved all the cape bits in the incredibles, very funny, note to self, dont wear a cape!

Possibly up there with Toy Story, congrats to Pixar!
In which case I'd be very interested in seeing the Incredibles. I saw Toy Story in the cinema and wasn't as impressed as I should have been, as I'm not that keen on the more recent animated films, like Disney's, but I've rediscovered it since my son has started watching it. It's one of his favourites and now I can see why

yeah, that's the one i meant vanize - 'gill' the escape artist.
but it turns out it was willem dafoe the whole time.
so how about the 'other lot' then? i liked antz (but still not as much as a bug's life) and shrek & shrek 2 are superb.
has anyone seen 'shark tale'?

I have to say I found both Shreks absolutely unfunny, and very very boring. I fell asleep in the first one then regretted going to see it again.
Antz is great.
I've not seen Ice Age or Shark Tale, but I've heard the former is brill and the latter is largely poo. And the main character is so ugly and such a gimp people couldn't bring themselves to like him. Even though it's Will Smith.
