What is your favorite LOTR character and why? It can be from the movie or book. Mine is Frodo because I can identify with his quest and struggle over following the path that is put before him and trusting that what he is doing is what is meant to be. Also his struggle of choosing between the tempting powerful darkness or the often difficult path of light.

Viggo makes a legendary Aragorn. You gotta admire an actor who takes his character that seriously.

Aragorn has my vote. I like heroes like that.

I agree gnor. The actor who played Gimli was also exceptional. I heard on the radio that the movie has already won a couple of awards.

For pretty pathetic / girlie reasons I would have to say Legolas. Yes Orlando Bloom is exceedingly sexy (esp as Legolas) but having a passion for archery and men with pointy ears helps.. And he just gets such great stunts in the films! -that swinging onto the horse scene from TT, i still melt with glee every time i watch it........
and the way he just prances around like a, a, well like an elf!

My favorite Tolkien character is Forbode, but you dont see him in LOTR, if I would have to choose an LOTR character it would be Tom Bombadil. Reason being, he is the only Vara on the side of good that you see in LOTR. Sauron is also Vara, as is his brother Forbode. Ahh the history, those who have just come to know of Tolkien, just sit back cause there is more than you can imagine!!

i have to agree aragorn is an awesome character. i also rather enjoy legolas, not just for the obvious HOT reasons, but because i like how his character is cool-headed and calm, but still can make light of a situation.

and i like the 4 hobbits....they make me laugh.

I prefer Legolas....not Orlando Bloom,Legolas the elf... Elvish nature,as it is shown through Tolkien's work, seems to be magic and honourable, two reasons to live, fight and die for... Hail to the Elven Brothers!

Have to disagree there DB..because its all about mememememememememememe AND Aragorn of course.
It is such an awesome cast and film that all of the characters are amazing.
My boys do LOTR play all the time and one of them loves to play Boromir and do the death scene.

Lutz. There was something oddly appealing about him. Am I sick and wrong?

Am I the only person in the world to have never read or seen anything to do with Lord of the Rings?! Although this Aragorn character has suddenly become rather appealing to find out about!

Custom Bug, check out the photo gallery at http://www.lordoftherings.net

Sorry, don't know how to paste in pictures. Anyone else know? If so could someone please paste a pic of Aragorn into every single thread, just to distract me while I should be working. He's already on my screensaver, but I can't get enough of him... want to have all of his babies.....

Gollum.

Seconldy I would pick bilbo. The hobbit was way better of a book then any of the LOTR books IMO.

Does anyone else really hope peter jackson will make a hobbit movie?

I hope he does make the hobbit, that was one of the first books i ever read and then i read it another million times.
He's meant to be re-making the orgional KING KONG so the hobbit would have to be after that. Here's hoping

King Kong is in post production at the moment and is due for release at xmas '04, I think.

Also, Ian McKellen (Gandalf) more or less insinuated in an interview last week that Jackson WILL be making the Hobbit, but not before 2005. Happy days!!!!

My fav has to be the Silmarillion, though unfortunately I can't imagine that ever being filmed

treebeard is my favourite character by far

standing in the ruins of isengard he idly crushes boulders while he thinks, hrum hroom!

closely followed by tom bombadil who acts like he's a complete space cadet but hints at the fact that he's one of the baddest muthafukkas around.

Unfortunatly you cant make the Silmarillion into a movie, it just wouldnt hold the attention span of todays average joe.

For it would have to be Magneto. the Character of Gandalf exudes wisdom, duty and benevolence. A character that acts in a manner deserving of such power and immortality.

I am sooooo pissed!!! I was gonna go see the movie tonight but I fell down a flight of stairs and messed up my tailbone! I can't sit for more than a few minutes at a time. The really sad thing is that I fell down these stairs twice in the same 24 hour period. Aaaaahhhhh!!! I so wanted to see sexy elves killing evil dark beings. I hope you all enjoy the movie. I will have to wait at least another few days.

love and happy holidays , vulturenine
