Hey everyone. I know there's a subject on this, but what I really need to know is, how did you all learn the reverse??? Like did you think a certain process or something? I'm been trying to pull off the reverse weave for weeks and weeks, and somehow I just can't seem to understand the concept of it. Can someone help me? Very Confused Mystik

I did the forward weave. Then I slowed it down more and more, until I was going so slow I was going backwards. Seriously that IS what I did! ------------------ Picture yourself in a boat on a river with tangerine trees and marmalade skies.

I did the foward weave with both strings, put one down and with the other one I did it backwards. Every other try I picked both of them up and try it that way. Mostly it's trial and error. I learned the reverse weave a few weeks ago and I'm stil trippy on it but I can get into it fluidly. Keep working at it! This whole hobby (or job for you performers) is determination!

I learned like this: first doing it with one poi with both hand one at time. When you get familiar with that take the oher one with and mix the movement together. . I trained it 2 hours taked over 20 hits all over my body(most in head.. ) but ones you figured it out you feel like you have done it allways.. one thing what helped me was figure 8 reverse.. I hope that helps.!! And Happy New Year to everyone (it's -20°C here and I think doing fire.. maybe for reason)

I tried using just one hand at a time, so I could make sure I knew where they were supposed to me going, then got out my juggling clubs and tried with them. I tend to try something new with them first, since I can spin them really, really slow to give me time to think about what's happening to them ------------------ Bovril - It's liquid cow y'know

I'm assuming that we're all talking reverse and not BTB, but I actually learned it by accident. I was screwing around with turning moves for about a week, then one day I was actually paying attention to what I was doing, and all of a sudden "hey.... HEY!!!! That's the reverse weave!!!!". The thing that helped me the most to make it look good was to watch the plain of my spin, if that makes sense to anyone, and then use my elbows and upper arm as a guide as my wicks go past my head. That was my main hang up, having flaming shit flying at your face is kind of unnerving, you know. Once I got it down it opend up all of my turning moves and gave my whole performance a much cleaner flow. ------------------ If you love something, set it on fire.

It was really hard for me to figure it out too because I couldn't figure out how your hands should move in reverse so what I did was I started always with the forward weave and then learn both the turn and reverse at the same time... If you start turning from the forward weave you will see how the poi cross your body and then they are going in a different direction. Once you figure it out it more or less comes naturally with practice. Thats how I learned it and now it is second nature. Also do it really slow so you can see what you doing. Good luck

I learned to do the reverse weave by turning around during the weave. Keep at it. I feel when I learned the reverse weave, many new doors opened for moves.

Good for you, I'm so happy for you really. I still remember when I got that move, it opens up a lot of possibilities doesn't it. Have fun with it, I know I did. Now I'm off to practise the BTB 1080 and back again. I never seen to make it back again. Oh well. It's all about the practice. Almost as much fun as the performance. heheh PLUHR DOC ------------------ Let us Light up the Night

Maybe it's just me, but was that last post was a thinly veiled boast? Couldn't be sarcastic, they're from Flordia! As to reverse weave, cool you got it! 2 ways to try it are through turning into it, or just getting your hands used to the order of movement one hand at a time as described in the lessons on this site.

I got the reverse weave today too.... from reading this thread followed by big time practising Was all a bit wild at first but I now got the poi moving in smooth loops and can even go from forwards to reverse to overhead to forwards again!! Wahoo! Took a few nasty blows to the old head in the process though.

I learned to do the rev. weave by doing a forward weave, and doing a turn so that I was doing a rev. weave, and then I worked on keeping it going. Then once I was farmiliar with the motion, I worried about how to get into it from a rev. swing.

everyhting everyone said, basically, except for Auger's post, thats a bit too clever for me, the one handed thing is how i learn any move, its absolutely wonderful, ecspecially since my left hand is severely retarded and need special attention in getting down the motions...
