Well after an unpleasently brief wonderfull visit from Cassandra, I walked away with a fat lip [Crying] (I have been punched in the face a few times but damn that staff hurt really bad!) and some contact staff skillz. Damn she is a great teacher. Anyhoo I need to learn more, so if any of yalls know where I can get some video lessons like the ones here please let me know.

FT.com...Contact staff is the same as contact juggling (sortof), rolling the staff around your body and arms without using your hands.

There's some good examples on the vids here

Well, the retreat idea sound like a good one to me!
I suggest Brazil as a good location. Maybe somewhere close to Campin Grosso... [Wink]

Okokok, two week staff intensive, starts the seventh of July, 5 places available.

In the depths of the scottish highlands on a small farm with no distractions I invite firespinners of a more advanced standard to this retreat. Highlights include the beutifull scenery with Lake and Mountains free.

There will be a fee of £75 per week that covers half board acomodation.

will happenx twice this year, dont miss it.

There was a dude who came over here to Aus from Canada he had some pretty good contact skills ie. Staff, Balls. The Staff I can do some of the stuff but the rest I'll leave for later. The balls look good though he had four going at once. Which also brings me to ask has anyone here had any experience with Contact Balls? [Big Grin] [beer]

I work 8 hours a day in a hotel to put myself through school, and since I basically sit on my bum the whole time, I started picking up contact juggling cause I could do it inside. Well kinda... they should warn you that those acrylic balls make loud sounds whenthey hit stuff... abnormally loud... LOL and I have gotten the Labrynth refference so many times too! ha!

Besides the butterfly knife and pentwirling are still there as backup-time-wasters. I swear all I gotta do now is learn to juggle and ride a unicycle...

A wise man once told me the moves should come from inside of you. I find that's kinda true now. Contact staff, and I'm finding contact juggling too, are all about responding instead of directing. After you figure out a basic repetoir of moves you'll discover a lot of little variations and extra places you can spin it just by trying to pull off one move and somehow turning it into something completely different. However you still have to get those basic moves down...

I find elbow rolls and neck rolls are a good place to start. Look at Glass's video and learn everything in that. Once you get proficient with those the rest will flow out of your own imagination. [Smile]

The Guy from Canada, was it Chris? (Looked like harry Potter and did a wizard routeen back home?) Fabulas contact person, especially body rolls. I met him at juggle art when I was going in for five minutes and ended up playing and swaping trick for about two hours.
I know lots of contact crystal stuff but am new in applying it to staff. Where do I find Glass's vid? I still don't quite get continious body motion, I can keep it on my head back and elbows, but round da body, me no understandy yet....(most of the links here don't seem to work, probably cos I'm on a mac at the moment. (could people post or email the sites to check out, you'd be legends, not that your not already), Cheers Tyr.
