Length Of Staff

man that subject is sooooooo connotatious its not funny...but anyways

is there any particular trend to the length of the staff? Like with poi it should be the length of your arm i believe...but is there anything along these lines with staff?

I've heard shoulder height, but some weird guy in the street told me eye height.

I spun a staff that was a foot and a half taller than me...Im 5 foot and it was a 6.5 footer

You had to lift it Up Up Up to clear the ground, but once you got the hang of it, it was really fun (especially when you are a petite female wielding a giant fire staff Mwah hah ha ha!!!)

But actually that was a friend's staff, and it was about 4 inches or so over his head...I am currently spinning an armpit-height one, a just-to-my-chin one and soon will be making one as tall as me..

so basically there is no set guidelines for it...ha ha ha

Since I am 6 foot, I personally prefer a 5 foot 9 inch staff to about a 6 foot.

Having a staff longer I find is easier for contact stuff, but I have seen people do insane contact staff with 20 to 34 inch batons.

Conclusion:
About chin height = new staffers
Anything else = Experienced

I think it's completly up to you. My staff is about 4 feet long (i'm 6 feet), and my girlfriend's staff is about 3.5 feet long (she's 5'6"). This ratio seems to be the trend were I live.

It’s all personal preference. Practice with different lengths till you find the one that you want. I’m 5 foot 1 inch and my staff is 5 foot even.
