Monkey fist conspiracy?

i've been searching for ages now, and every thread that asks about how monkey fists compare to cathedral's seems to peter out just before it gets anywhere.

is there some unwritten code that i, as a newbie to poi and HOP, am not aware of? is there some mystical property of the monkeyfist, dating back to ancient dunedin, that prevents it from being spoken freely about?

or do i just need to go back and do another search?

In my oppinion they are quite similar, although I never had a chance to compare them one on one.
The burn time and the size of the flame depends on the "mass" of kevlar and the surface. One is solid cube, one is solid ball so they are more or less the same.
But you cannot get as big Cathedrals as Monkey fists. So if your looking for size - go for the second one.

anyways, about the topic at hand, if they are similar, why all the chat about cathedrals (uh oh, here we go again) and not about monkey fists? seems to me that the monkey fist would be nicer simply due to its round shape, ergo lack of painful edges.

anbody have stats re: burn time, flame size, etc?

Supposedly monkey fists go out randomly due to the shape, air flow, and some other things I know nothing about. I hear monkey fists last a little bit longer than cathedrals but the flame size is about the same.

Thats all the info I can give as Ive never used any of them first hand.

I think there are more threads about cathedrals because they are much easier to get hold of, HOP is the only place I know of that sells monkeyfists, but a lot of places stock cathedrals, and cathedrals are easier to make (especially for those short of patience )
