wicked photo man, thats a real nice dragon breathe. i have 2 photos on this page > gallery one of me breathing. the rest are all pretty much me and my troupe in costume. there is an awsome pic of rich in gallery four as well.

... Film it, then capture the best frames...

Brilliant. For anything really, not just fire.

Video low res ![[Frown]](images/icons/frown.gif) . Why not just open the shutter for the whole blow. The only light in the scene is that fireball, so you get all of it as the image doh. Can even do that with digicams on my canon by setting it to overexpose

Then it's way to bright and the contrast between the fireball and everything else is monkey. It also blurs the fireball together. But yeah the video camera is low res but a good enough camera will give you pretty nice results. Its just a matter of money ![[Frown]](images/icons/frown.gif)

Nobody ever listens to me but the right answer is leave the shutter open for a while AND use a flash. You get a solid crisp person AND the benefit of using a longer exposure time. Just make sure you've got a dark background as any light sources in the background of the photo will blur if you're not on a tripod.
Sometimes that looks cool too though...

Here's me with flash and 1 second exposure. No tripod and the bright "Footlocker" sign in the background give it the blurred look (which I kinda dig). With a tripod and dark backgroud this photo would have been pretty darn crisp. NYC in NYC. [ 28. February 2003, 14:50: Message edited by: NYC ]

That's an old hobby actually. Many of the blurry ones were taken without a flash but you can see the difference. I find that SO many fire pictures look the same, especially without a flash that it really could be anybody spinning. The flash lets you see a face at least. But that's just me...
