leaf blower Experiments - FAIL

 Fellow Poi Technicians,

Experiments have been executed with a leaf blower. The idea was to blow air through a PCV pipe filled with steel wool. A few dry wall screws were drilled through the plastic pipe to hold the wool into place. The wool was lit at the top of the pipe

Unfortunately the air flow was restricted by the wool. Only a few tiny sparks came out. We imagine that had the idea worked the PVC would have melted.

Oh well.... without failure

 Fellow Poi Performers,

I have developed a steel wool bundle that puts out sparks 30 to 40 feet in either direction. [color:#FF0000]This method puts out so much spark that attention to safety is a REQUIREMENT.

Essentially you create a metal basket out of garden wire that looks like a big 4 inch tube. You then unravel your steel wool so that it will fit tightly inside the bas

or for a cheaper option you can use an oak bokken. You can pick them up for around about Ģ10 and as they don't have the edges like a metal sword the kevlar won't get chewed through in no time.
wrap the 'blade' area in a few layers of foil to protect the wood and stop oxygen penetrating to the core, then sew a kevlar sheeth to fit, remember to make the kevlar sheeth a couple of inches shorter than the overall length of the blade so there is a small gap between the burning kevlar and the tsuba (
