led weighted handles
well thats a bit different my idea what i meant was like the led glow ball poi but much smaller like the size of the wooden handles
I kinda realised that but was distracted. Most read made led balls are pretty big, to allow for batteries, circuit, shock absorbtion and light diffusion.

There are a heap of really small lights, some fairly sophisicated, that the glove light show ravers use (photon etc), I've never looked closely at them but if you could enclose one in

Flag poi chains?

 Posted by Dr.Babs:
I've been considering sewing up a set of my own flag poi as well.

My idea is to use my fire chains (oval link with swivels and single loop handles) and I plan on sewing a flag that slips over it and brings the chain up around the first "right angle" of the flag, to weight the entire leading edge.

It might sound a little vague now, but when i get them constructed i'll be sure to post pictures/tutorial for them.
I'm not very good with poi at all but they do have nice weight to them and isolations are rather easy with them even as noobie poi spinner
What type of poi are you using? Do you know what the weight is?

I've had issues with the flowtoys durability, concentrate being a 1 piece item look to be more durable... and having seen both concentrate and flowtoys in person, I must say, the concentrate poi look much nicer to my eye. ^_^

carefull, are the chain links welded like the chain you get from hop? a lot of twist-ovel chains like that for clothes etc aren't and can fail under to much heat&force without warning :o

Monkey fist heads without a solid core (I use a knot in the wick as the core; awesome fuel capacity), twisted oval link chain, and a lamp oil/coleman's mix. I seem to be tending towards shorter chains lately from about two feet now down to 18" or so.

Does HOP sell Flomass?

 Posted by Sister Eleven:
Flowmass looks nicer and goes on better. HoP's weight sleeves are cheaper and 10g heavier, but you need to do something to tighten the slit end (I just use a rubber band; if you don't want something opaque, you can probably find clear elastic hair ties that will work).

That's pretty much all there is to the trade-off. Personally, I would go for the weight sleeves. They're not pretty to look at, but when you're spinning no one is going to see them.

Cone poi with LEDs, Good or Bad?

 Posted by Jameth:
Afterthought: the led balls may not fit inside the HOP cone poi anyway, unless HOP have changed their pattern in the last year or so:

I have a pair of the cone poi on swivels (operated on the handles to make them less clunky), the cone is too narrow to take a tenis ball, much less an LED ball. Which is fine for practice - rice is much softer - but would stuff things up for Adrian's purpose.

Ask support before you buy them...
