1) A turdload of Muse's lyrics are nothing more than 7 or less repeated lines

2) He sounds like a jack in the box whenever he breaths in

3) They say OOOoooOOooOooh... A lot.??

Muse is one of the bands I list under 'liked, but I'm too lazy to get more of their stuff'

Ahhh, Muse.
How I love thee (and Placebo, but strangely hate Dylan) - however more for nostalgic reasons.
Hulabullo was just awesome - their live set in them days was so freakin' powerful it's amazing.

Absolution didn't do much for me aside from a few tracks (Stockholm Syndrome ubblove ) , BH&R has some wicked tunes but also lots of tosh.

We had a Q&A with their manager ages ago - he was annoyed they were getting heavier for their second album as they wanted them to be more poppy, I think they've finally won through frown

Still one of the most exciting bands to see live.

Incidentally, I can't see any comparison between Muse & Placebo.
Jeff Buckley on the other hand = 80% Muse (well, vice versa really)

well no doubt newgabe will class them both as whiney boy music. (although she classes dylan very seperately... wink )

ahhh the muse/placebo/radiohead/jeff debate....

welll.... addressing the original points.
1) one.. yes i had. similar to powderfinger actually, altough more apocalytics and much more fun to scream at the top of your lungs in a mosh pit.

2) what are you - and opera singer nazi about breathing technique?

3) yes. so you opera, sufi, jazz, and far too many other singing styles to note.. the art of scat takes many different forms.

to other points.... the jb/muse analogy worked at the start - but its an influence rather that copy. their understanding of guitar, classical, electronica, orchestral, showmanship, and staduim rockability really puts them on a different level. you can cry to lilac wine that jeff could have done the same, but its been 13 yrs now.... time to move on. seriously - how many performers have ever been able to play perfect rachmaninov then switch to the most supreme guitar solos....

i saw them in early days, and i see them now - and still love them.

newgabe though, cringed and retired to her bedroom for a smoke wbenever i played them... but thats an old skool dylan fan for you. wink

i think that muse are very good at getting the feeling they want to convay though a piece of music across via the actual music and use the lyrics to back it up which is why i like muse.

Muse sucks, I'm surprised this cheesetastic song they have out now is getting airplay in the USA but I think the video is more responsible for their success on their most current work. Their older stuff wasn't liked too much here on any mainstream level, but the emo kids or whatever like it here.

Sounds like drunken D&D players to me... shrug

With all the promising new acts I'm not as bummed about modern music like I was a few years ago during a slump in the production alternative genres. Muse brings those bummed feelings to me, but there is much more that doesn'tyes

Indie/Hipsters wouldn't be caught dead listening to Muse and that isn't a list of Emo Artists, but Emo kids do like some of those bands (maybe 15% of that list)just like they seem to be into Muse along with basement dwellers. rolleyes

Weezer is on an Emo band list along with Cobra Starship??? I didn't know alternative was synonymous with pop or mash-ups...Who ever wrote that list is a crackhead!!!!!! laugh3

But yeah Muse sounds like a bad synthpop fusion with retro glam/prog which is a shoe in that Emo kids would dig it, especially since they killed the goth scene. You don't have to be an Emo Artist to have Emos like you! tongue2

Well damn. I just got pwnt.

In my defense, Cobra-Starship is well Emo. Or at least scene, which is the bastard love child of Emo and some other inexplicable 2KX sub genre... tongue2

muse is garbage, my housemate idolises them, he played their new album nonstop for 4 days (I mean literally for 4 days NONSTOP, looped from the moment he got up till the moment he went to sleep) before I threw the CD player in the pool. I think he took me seriously after that.

I cant stand that whining that comes out of the lead singers mouth. If I wanted to hear that I would get married.

sticks and stones my break my bones, but ski patrol will save me.
