Hello

wavehello

hmmmmmm what to write about me as an intro.....damn its make or break time. First impressions are so vital. Oooooo the pressure.

I'm living in South Wales but originate from Essex (No I don't own White stillettos and No I'm not an Essex girl!). I don't bite, I do pinch, I love chocolate and I one day plan on learning lots of stuff I can't do yet.

Hobbies:- include juggling, balls juggleand clubs , Diablo, poi, doodling, music, hating housework (dust is natures way of showing what the burglars have stolen), making things, pulling things to bits (mainly to see how they work) , embarrassing my nieces and nephews (great fun hobbie that all aunties should take up), hugging trees and talking to bees (watch out for the squirrels......they ARE out to get you!)

Ambitions:- Never to grow up. Learn how to burn things safely ubbangel To that ends learning how to poi without stunning myself, blacking my eye or turning myself into a human torch. Learn to play more than one tune on the guitar. Rule the World. Learn to Surf. Conquer my fear of heights. Travel the world in a van with a man named Bob ("why Bob?" you ask...well why not Bob? I'm sure there are loads of nice men called Bob out there! Simons and Johns need not apply).

Boring stuff:- work in sales to pay the bills.

Well, I have to say I was a bit dissappointed that there was no naked alien worshipping, but given the weather conditions, I guess I can forgive that, and it was lovely to meet you all the same! smile

Do you think Oli will ever get the hang of dressing himself or will he always need two willing assistants? I could apply for the job if needs be, and I'm sure Gayle will be the second! ubblol But then hey, We are just the twisted sicko twins!

Who is going to register Poikey with the sports council to see if we can get a development grant? I think we could spice up the rules a bit with flaming poi on skateboards......whatcha think?

Sweet little Oli freaks you out?? How can that be so?

I don't think he needs a full time dresser, because he did manage to have his Jumper on the right way round at the begining of the meet. Maybe its just late night Dressers he needs, when he is over tired and emotional ubblol I'm sure it had nothing to do with his book! wink

yeah yeah! You would say that, Oli. Just admit it. You can't dress yourself without help from a grown up..... hmmm ok not that I behave like much of a grown up but Gayle did. She organised somewhere to sleep and everything!

Anyway less of teasing you. Welcome to my thread. Don't go back and read any of it because it will just confuse you and lead you to believe I'm not sane, when its obvious to a blind dog I am! smile

I'm actually very sad today. I found out that on Saturday whilst I was in Falmouth my neighbour Les passed away. I went round there yesterday to see him but no one answered and the car was gone so I thought he must be out. This morning as I came out of the house his brother pulled up and told me what had happened. I shall miss him greatly. He and his wife gave me such a wonderful welcome when I first moved in here and nothing was every too much to ask of him. He had one of the kindest hearts I have known. He helped out anyone and everyone that needed him. His wife Marion died 2 years ago and he had never really come to terms with it and missed her dreadfully. In the end his heart just gave out on him.

R.I.P. Les. The world is surely poorer for the loss of you.

The Funeral of Les is tomorrow. Its up at the Crem. I hate the Crem. Its so cold and bleak up there. Work wouldn't give me the day off, so I have to rush up there from work and rush straight back again. It just feels wrong to hurry something like this.
I know I'm going to cry my eyes out. I always do at funerals. I usually get through the main part, but when people get up to say a few words about the deceased I just breakdown and sob. I have a feeling there will be lots of people wanting to stand up and say a few words about Les. He was and is well loved.
When I get back into work they are going to have to put up with a teary eyed woman sniffing as she serves customers and if they think I'm going to be embarrassed about crying they've got another thing coming. I think its un-natural to hide sadness or hold it in. So if I still feel like blubbing once I'm back in that shop I bloody well will!

I'm ok. Its how life is. You get born, you grow, you live a life and someday you die. I think life without death would be meaningless.

I just happen to choose to live my life letting all the emotions hang out. I know some people are more reserved and choose not to show how they feel.

Some people may wonder why Les dying has upset me so much. He was after all just the man that lived nextdoor and in this day and age some people don't even know the names of the people that live nextdoor. He wasn't a family member.

I met him 8 years ago when I first moved to south Wales. He and his wife treated me as if they had known me forever from the very first day. They put up with all the noise of the renovations on my house without complaint. They put up with the fact I never gardened and let weeds run rampant. They looked after my cats when I went away on holiday or to festivals. The gave my nieces Christmas presents every year (even though they could ill afford it). He looked after my neighbours (on the other side) 2 boys most saturday mornings to give their mother a break. No problem was ever to large for Les to help anyone out with. He would sweep my Chimneys, trim my hedge, if I needed a lift he always offered....... everything he did, he did to be a good neighbour. If you tried to thank him with chocolates or cakes he would put a very offended look on his face and say "I didn't do it for gain, I did because I'm a neighbour and thats what neighbours do!" Les was a very special person. There are not so many people like him left in the world. Everyone seems to be out for their own gains. That is why I'm so upset. I will miss his gentle ways and his kindness of spirit. I will miss him telling me the local history. I will miss him telling me about all the mischief that he and the boys from nextdoor had got up to. I will miss him catching me coming home from work and dragging me into his back garden to show me a beautiful rose that had just opened its bud.

In truth I will just plain miss him.

Thank you all for all the hugs and thoughts.

It was a very fast service (as is always up at the Crem) I did manage not to sob the whole way through and I got to tell his brothers and sisters just how much he was loved by us all in the road (that was evident anyway by the number of us that turned up). I then had the task of going back to his house with his Niece to pick up all the cat food he has insisted, before he died, that I have, to make sure I fed Widget. I have never seen so much cat food in my life,it would out do most of the supermarkets! Well I say cat food but it was tinned tuna and pilchards, special blends of biscuits...... I also found out something Les had obviously been at great pains to hide from me. Widget doesn't drink water or even milk. Oh no! Not the over fed prince Widget. Widget drinks evaporated milk!! ubblol Les always used to tell me that Widget wasn't spoiled...... hmmmm Les my sweetheart that was a bit of a fib now wasn't it! I think this poor cat is in for a bit of a culture shock. I'm going to have to ween him off all this stuff. Its no wonder he weighs about 2 stone.

All in all today wasn't too bad. I feel like its the end of an era but I'm guessing that Les hasn't really totally left. He taught a whole street how to be good neighbours just by being one himself. I don't think I'll ever be able to walk past his house without looking down the side to check he's not there sweeping up or chatting over the wall. He kind of just belongs here and it will be very very odd to not have him about. Whoever moves into the house and however they change it, it will always be Les and Marion's house to me.
