Wessex Girl, they are actually based in Southampton, at the Joiners Arms in St Mary's. Perhaps you've heard of them.
They are dark electro-pop, think Mansun, Soft Cell, New Order etc. They ROCK.

A friend of mines band Nero, a young Irish band currently based in San Francisco but were playing in Austin last month.
They have Pearl Jam's producer and Peter Buck from REM plays on a few tracks.

Recycler on Plug and Play records.. Funky tunes
I saw them live in a 50 max capacity venue, very intimate and just fantastic.. I was doing poi at the front and managed to get tangled up with the Bassist.. oops.. all good fun tho - highly recommend if you are into funky drums and lots of bass..

One of the best bands ever to cause damage to the streets of Denver.
But, unfortunately, they don't have a website, and I don't have a quick link for mp3s. So all of this is really quite pointless, I suppose. After all, you really do have to see them live to truly appreciate them, though it's not a show for the meek, those with heart problems, or phobias involving beer, punk rockers, fire, fireworks, having fireworks shot directly at you, phisical violence, or people named 'Zach the country wonder'.

They're from Hull, where I was at Uni and I've seen them play live more times that I can remember.
Unfortunately, I don't know of any sites that have downloadable music to have a listen to, so you'll just have to take my word that they're incredably good

A quick plug for my boys Enter the Haggis . They're a Celtic rock band out of Toronto - fantastic live performance! And of course my local favorite - Solla Saloon, an underground rockabilly group. No site yet but the first full length album is out in stores this month. Yippee!

There is a band that started with a few boys from the college I live in on campus at Uni....
They're called MID-AFTERNOON and they've done heaps and won heaps in the short time they've been together...!
Check them out at the MP3 site - you can down load two of their songs 'Silhouette of Someone' and 'Moonlit' - moonlit is my personal favourite at the moment - it's about war...
