ok, first off, I'm not making any insinuations about anything here, I'm just curious as to what the makeup is on HoP education wise. I know many of us are too young for university or have never made higher education a priority, but still there seem to be many well informed people out there, so:

Lol, yeah, it would have been good with a poll. That is why I said you _might_ find out more...!

Good idea anyway

Aswell, I thought about having a poll in my post, but then I realized there was way to many options to fit on a simple poll. Everyone had reasons and circumstances for what they did, as well, I was looking more at the field of education rather than level...

how odd, I dont seem to be able carry out the poll...

Anyhow - I have a Bachelor of Behavioural Science and 6 months left on my second degree; Education (Secondary specialisation). I also have a certificate 4 in Applied Design (Interactive Multimedia). I hope to complete a Masters at some stage, cuz I like the idea of doing research on what I'm interested in. I guess a PhD may flow from that but Im not the type to just want a PhD cuz I think it'd be cool.

Medusa - you are never too old to study - it just sounds like you havent found anything that calls to you yet.

look into becoming a translator then - excellent pay, easy to do freelance work and make your own hours, etc. And as long as you are good at it, you don't necissarly need any degree for it at all. Maybe you'll have to practice some first, but if languages are your strong suit, then play it!

3? where did you find the time?

Actually, there was one part in university where I could have had any of 5 separate degrees within two semesters... lets see, they were: studio art, art history, math, chemistry, and physics. I wound up with a physics major and a studio art minor.

In Oz its not a matter of time, its a matter of money. You have to pay full fees if you want a second bachelors degree unless its in a field of demand, like education. I really want to go back and do some more philosophy politics and history...but Id have to pay a lot for that, and Id be unlikely to attract any more income to offset it with. So I'll just have to keep reading the books smile

From just doing the poll HoP seems like a very well educated group / or aspires to be . . . or maybe this is to do with the holidays/lifestyle associated with continued academia with no real rules as to what to do . . .

Josh are you sure - I started a second degree after my first (admittedly this is about 5 years ago, so what I'm about to say may be inaccurate), then deferred to do a Masters degree (still haven't finished the second degree) - I didn't have to pay full fees to start my second degree - it was payable under HECS.... as was my masters.... confused smile

so you can just go take the relevant tests then? is that what you mean? In the states you have to go through the complete course load required for the degree and have at least an addition 30 hours of classes (full time for one year - forget about working, or 2 or 3 years of constant night classes) for 2nd and higher number bachelors degrees.

I work full time as a computer programmer have been for the last 6 years and i'm only 23. Also completing a foundation degree moving onto an honours degree paid for by my work. I get all the perks of a full time student (as that's what i'm classed as) but without the debts - fully paid for my work (all books, accommodation when attending, food etc). Loverly.

I only have to go to "uni" for one day a month and all the rest is undertaken at home - our "uni" is a office building for my company and the uni lecteurs come to us. I'm also doing this with no A-Levels to my name but work did pay for me to complete two NVQ's also (level 2 and 3).

I don't remember. If I could find out what time I first voted, then I could tell you for sure. Shouldn't the polls be associated with your username instead of machine?
