he also wrote lotsmore 'N's, but his editor (me) deleted them. I'm sure it means 'hairballs suck, vets suck, you're kitty sounds cute, where's my dinner?" (i extrapolated somewhat)

I say "spending $300 sucks, no help sucks, where's my dinner?"

My cat has had the hairball problem in the past. Iams makes a great cat food that's called hairball remedy....and I think that it works, because my cat has not had a hairball since I have been feeding it that food.....and he used to cough all the time. Anyway, try the liquid hairball medicine for at least a week or so, and switch to a different brand of cat food....see if that helps..

gah@losing all that i wrote.
i have tried lots of different cat foods. she gets fed only the best, most highest-quality (and therefore the most expensive) cat food. she even turned her nose up at free-range organic chicken broth (which i turned my nose up at too).
didnt know that iams did a no-hair-ball variety. my vet doesnt stock it, and i guess doesnt even know of its existence otherwise they'd've told me about it, huh...?
if i was ralph and was on the simpsons, i'd say "my cats name is mittens"
i am keeping her fur from when i brush her to make mittens out of because i love mittens and i love her fur and it'd be great to have mittens made out of her fur.
is this odd?

My recomendation is to use a hairball formula dry cat food. And also buy the liquid malt for hairballs at a pet store and use that everyday for a week and then switch over to using the malt once a week. You may have to end up doing that for the rest of her life. That's what we do for my cats at home (all 9 of em) and also at my work for our kennel cat Fern.

Brushing your cat does help to cut down any loose hair that they may ingest while grooming themselves. One of my cats at home has a big problem with matts and he is long haired. Never had that problem with him before. We are gonna have to shave him down in order to get a start on the matting.

*note** Some cats may not like the liquid malt, so you may have to either put it on your cat's front paws and let her lick it off on her own, or if she pulls a "Fern" ((too smart for her own good)) You may have to put the malt on your finger and rub it either on the roof of her mouth or tongue. Or..rub the malt between her cheeks and her teeth. Good Luck and hope the info that everyone has provided for you helps wink

you know thats why dogs are a mans best friend, at least if a dog decides it wants to lose hair it just leaves it scattered where ever it was lying down, much better than picking up slimmy balls of fur, dogs are best, my miniture sausage dog and great dane rock cujo and zajas for ever!

Ok, you asked for it. eek The "Story" is legend (and I've seen 2-3 "versions" of it, so it's a story), but the photos are real.

"My sister-in law is from Oklahoma and has a slight accent. She has cats and when she lived in the south she would take them to the groomers and have what is called a "Line Cut".

"To her a line cut is when all of the fur hanging down below the cat's tummy is taken off (because it gets matted or gnarled). When she moved to Chicago with my brother, one of the cats fur got all tangled up during the move so she took it in for a line cut. She was quite surprised when she heard the price as it was twice as much as it was down south. She confirmed with the groomer that he understood what a line cut was and he said "yes, I know what a LION cut is."

"It seems her accent came out sounding like LION not LINE and this is how her cat was returned to her. She cried for a week... but not as much as the cat. It was November in Chicago and the cat needed all the fur it had."

If done correctly, a lion cut can look quite GOOD on a cat! But, alas, it was not....

Socks (You can read the cat's mind. "You... will.... die....") hug
