Hi folks
Just curious if anyone knows of any good video editing freeware/shareware?

I've got some digital video footage which I want to piece together and edit whilst also setting it to some music - nothing fancy.

Any ideas? Or is this something you have to pay for?

You can get movie maker on the microsoft page. Just go to microsoft.com and type "movie maker" in the search field.

Yep yep - had a play in the garden today, pranced around in front of the camera for a bit then saw what could be done with it.
It all seems nice and squeezy, although stupidly tried to film tails in the wind so alot were just clips of me swearing... Also a bit annoying that I can only take up to 30 second clips, but I'm only trying to put together a quick "montage" (sp?) of stuff - a sort of mini showcase for BT.

I'll bring the camera on Thursday and get some fire/beamer/glow stuff.

Thanks guys for the links smile but frown I've tried them, downloaded and they all still only do either 50% or they put "please register" over it or they only do .MOV if you register frown looks like I'll have to be spending out more money, grrrr

Typing in "Adobe Premier Torrent" into Google COULD help you if you weren't worried about piracy laws...

Just thought I'd mention it.

There is one site you can try called download.com where you can find free software and music. When it lists up the type of software your looking for there a search filter at the bottom of the screen which will allow you to list the free software. You will see what I mean when you use it. I recently downloaded some free music editing software and an music converter. Would have cost me about £50 if I'd had to buy. biggrin
The address is https://www.download.com/
Hope this helps. biggrin

www.videohelp.com has hundreds of tools for transcoding and editing, many are free (you can manke it a search criteria). Virtual Dub should do what you want as long as there is a direct show filter you can use to decode the quicktimes. It's pretty straight forward. It will do the transcode to DV video which you can then edit on almost anything, Even Windows movie maker if you have to.... infact check that out it might do QT files (.mov), on XP it's under the start/programs/accessories

Avidemux is a great piece of video editing software. Of course, it's only available to Linux users. So you gotta learn to run Linux first ubbidea
