This space is for all those funksters busy improving their technique by learning new moves - made-up or traditional.

Tell us all about it! We love hearing about our fellow poiers/staffies/misc. toyers succeeding with new things biggrin

It's just hard to keep up with it all sometimes, so if we keep it together you'll be certain to get a little feedback.

here a pat on the back in advance from me

i learnt forward btb 5beat about half an hour ago.
i love it when you try a move for the first time expecting it to be really tricky, then discover you can just do it.

i like poi. it is easier than juggling smile

I don't know the "official" name of it but I believe it is 2 beat low windmill with under the arm-pit and over the shoulder transition. That's poi goes back with under the arm-pit and over the shoulder.

P.S: Thanks to cherry from Portland for cueing me for this move smile

After much time spent with oli over the summer some of his tangling techniques have rubbed off on me, much like the UV dye on his yellow poi wink

I can now 'oli' in fowards tangle pretty comfortably and i can get that tangle "outside, inside, opposite outside, inside, repeat" pretty stable for quite a while and add some tangled turns into the mix as well.

Cheer oli

Hi, I'm new. I finnally got 5bt weave, so I though I might treat myself by signin up here :P. I also got 4/5 beat helicopter I think... erm... horizontal windmill... whatever it's called... into spin.

I've only been doin it for about 3 months, or less, and I'm the only one in my club to have gotten 5bt weave. Also, I'm well on my way to btb, which for a long time I thought impossible. Just keep hittin myself in the face biggrin WAGHAGH.

If someone could offer to help me by givin me new tricks to learn, and offerin to explain them, I'd appreciate it, because I seem to be a bit behind on this site... I mean... what's butterfly weave?! I can do what I think is the real thread the needle, but... what is the real one!? I can do the one described by the site...

anyway.

Thanks guys!

Céaman.

Some beautiful new take-outs from windmill, TTN and 4bt. Can't wait to take some photos of it, they'll be lovely.

And almost (near enough to claim it) perfected the fountain biggrin

Fountains are beautiful with fire. Get comfortable with them from all sides then rotate the plane to get a corkscrew. Now that you have the 5bt, add those same wrist wraps to the corkscrew and you will have some sweet moves you can chain together.

Odd crosser/weave combinations which look kind of awkward but actually aren't wink Antispun isolations. BTB butterfly waist wrap forwards and general BTB WW wraps and turning. Crossarm inverted weaves entering with the trailing poi - thanks arashi, although they seems somewhat pointless right now wink
