Why are people complaining that David Blaines 44 days in a box feat is an insult to starving people in the third world and hunger strikers.
David Blaine has made it cleat that what he is doing is in the tradition of spiritual fasting performed by fakirs throughout history.
He's made absolutley no connection between what he's doing and starvation/hunger strikers.

Also, David Blaine... I think he's just a guy doing what he likes to do. He's challenging himself, and doing it where everyone can see it. So he's taking a lot of flack... The major difference between a hobby and art is that art will piss some people off.
