Aston hit it pretty much on the head. I think with any art you can see the "overall" skill level increase with time (e.g. what must have been mind-blowing painting to a cavema...

PodPoi with Knob Handles USB cords
3rd April, 2017
Was eyeing these for a long time
"I had been eyeing these and other LED poi for some time, but never wanted to spend the money usually if I spin after dark I'm very much inclined to use fire or not do it at all. I let somebody at a festival who let me try hers and I loved them enough that I knew I'd end up buying these eventually! So far I'm very happy with them. The weight is perfect and the shell is bouncy enough that you don't mind getting hit in the face much. They seem durable but time will tell. I'm still learning the ropes of programming the LEDs but the process is simple and the results never disappoint. There is a lot of potential I haven't tapped yet. Very much looking forward to a summer of well-illuminated spinning!"

Service and support

Your first stop for fire twirling supplies
"I've ordered quite a few odds and ends from Home of Poi over the last year and it's just a phenomenal company to buy from. Their customer service is unparalleled and they are always very fast to respond (not to mention their speedy processing of orders). I can't comment on their pre-made props but if you're a DIY fire spinner HOP's supplies are simply top-drawer. All the props I've made with HOP wicks and other components have served me and my group very well - the wicks have easily outlasted our first fire staff and the poi chains are still as sturdy as ever. Even if it isn't your last stop Home of Poi should definitely be your first stop for fire spinning supplies no matter what part of the world you're in."

Pair of 0.34 inch 9.5mm Hollow Devil Handsticks
1st April, 2009
Good solid handsticks
"I got these to go with the fire devil stick I made since my homemade handsticks left much to be desired - and these are definitely up to the task. They're solid feeling and a bit longer than I expected - but I like having more room to play with."

Kevlar Wick Length of 2.5 x 1/8 inch 65mm x 3.2mm
23rd March, 2009
Tough and durable
"I've been using the 2.5 wick in my cathedral-head poi for nearly a year now and they've held up through far more abuse than is fair to throw at a prop! I tend to prefer this width over 2 wick for weight and surface area - I also have it on my small staff (although the big staff gets 4 wicks). Honestly for all the times the poi have been thrown around and for all the times the staff has been dropped down the stairs (usually around a dozen times a day) there is almost no fraying to speak of and what little bits there are is easily fixable with PVA glue. These wicks are nice and thick hold a good bit of fuel and are incredibly resilient to abuse. Definitely worth it!"

Cathedral Stainless Steel Eyebolt Kit
23rd June, 2008
Perfect for poi!
"This set is perfect for cathedral head poi (naturally). The eye bolts are just the right size and the threading does not go all the way down which makes it easier to put through the stacks. It wound up being much better than anything I could get at a hardware store and with the nuts and washers still cheaper. If you like the DIY thing you may as well add these when you buy your wicks."

Fire Safety Training
23rd June, 2008
A great gesture from HOP
"The fact that your shopping cart automatically includes a free copy of this safety DVD whenever you buy any fire supplies from HOP shows their level of commitment to the safety and convenience of their customers. Even moreso is the fact that the content of the DVD is offered on their website to view online. As the DVD says it is only an introduction and not a substitute for serious training but the information is very useful to a first-time firespinner. A few things could use clarification; the DVD advises against spinning off but I have used a container to catch fuel to reuse which I find better than blotting; however it's got many good pointers including recommended equipment. The interviews with Sage and Pele were great additions too!"

S/S ball chain #15
23rd June, 2008
Very tough
"This ball chain is much larger than I would have guessed but it's solid all the way 'round. Having done 5-6 burns with it it's great for fire; no kinks very easy to untangle and never gives you the impression that it's anything less than strong."

Single 1/8 Inch 3mm Stainless Steel Oval Quicklink
23rd June, 2008
Better than some others
"My local hardware stores don't stock quicklinks in this size and the ones they do have are only threaded on one side; that these are threaded on both makes it more secure. After a week of spinning dry only one time did one become unsecured so as with all equipment always check to make sure it's tight before and after each burn."

Ni type A coupling
23rd June, 2008
Good sturdy coupling
"Not much to say except that it's very solid; it's held up so far and I feel safe using it with fire poi."
