But that's just my personal preference...

Other than that, I think it looks very cool

Posted:I, too, saw 'fire twireing' when I first looked at it... Maybe if the font was a bit less bold? Plus, I can see where Matthew B-M is coming from- the person half-in front and half-behind does look kinda more... Poi-ish... Murr... But these are just the comments of a jaded, biased weirdo... Don't mind me..!

"But I don't want to go among mad people," Alice remarked.
"Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat: "we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad."
"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn't have come here."

Posted:The new logo is a great idea, but the view i have is that the colour scheme is nice, but doesnt really work for promoting fire arts. It also doesn't give a clear idea of what poi is about for people new to the site. Its very modern and it is visually pleasing but i think working and developing on the old logo is a better idea, i personally like the present logo, so building on it instead of changing it would be great!.

I'm not sure about the typeface. It's too clowny/cartoony, there are plenty of free, fiery fonts out there, have you tried one of those?

If you are improving the design, have you considered changing the grey?

Posted:OK. I asked our resident designer (I work at a web-shop type place) what he thought. I have to say that I really like frostypaw's design, particularly with the obviously crossing trails. One of the things that was pointed out was that the "Home" in "Home of Poi" looks a bit like the "Home" from "Home and Away". He was also saying he thought that the logo was perhaps a bit small compared to the text, and that he would probably make the text something very simplistic like, for example Helvetica Bold.

Another thought that occurs to me is that perhaps the "and fire twirling" text should be the same length as the "Home of Poi(tm)" text, so the name is in a sort of block.

it rocks
and it has llamas

a little suggestion could you make the white poi head the little disembodied head from the left top corner with the poi swinger holding onto its long tongue.
either on fire, or with fire shapped blood spewting out of its severed neck

and more llama, maybe the other poi head could be the magical black llama discussed sooo many times on this site, but never captured on film.

What's the guy doing in those other pics anyway?
his planes are stinky, and isn't he about to tangle his poi right around his neck?

Seriously, so far I like no 1 and 5 from frostypaw's list, slightly leaning toward the softer font of no 1.

I would do my own concept, but it would just get too complex, with 3D models and moving parts... I get carried away easily.

Posted:Bender,

Awesome. But a bit too big. Maybe if you can make it smaller and add some pink to it?

I have put a new one up at top of page now to see how it looks. Will try and tidy the edges up later.

Thanks all for your honesty.

Kindest regards

Malcolm

Posted:Hmmm...Bender's concept is great, you could even incorporate the Yling (Danger and pain) with the Ylang (Safety and Responsibility)...But then it might start getting overly complicated.

As for the site logo, I still prefer Frosty's ones, expecially the request to keep the "and firetwirling" the same length as HoP.

But I'd also like to ask if we can keep the chunky original Home of Poi font for the HoP, but the helvetic for the "and firewtwirling".

I just really like the way that original font does with the letters in "Home of Poi". It is very easy to read but also unusual and kinda funky.

In my opinion...

Oh and the original colour of the atomic sign would work well cuz it looks like spinning fire trails anyway
