i hafta say i'm not digging the new logo. I have nothing wrong with pink (honest!), but it doesn't really promote the idea of chains and fire. Combined with the font, and the radial pink fill on the of blob it looks kind of like an 80s wine bar sign. Sorry

I think the current one is fine.

Yeah, it's the pink.

I also really like the Older logo and Really Old logo, that you cut and pasted.

Not to be a stick in the mud or anything Malcolm honey, but why do we need to change logo??

Well the logo is pretty cool.

i know that poi is not just fire but mabey instead of round poi heads make them flames,

red faded into orange then yellow then white a little blue on the base. FIRE

If everybody likes the current logo, but Malcolm would like it to show that it's a person creating the pattern as well, what about keeping the orange and red 'atom' sign and adding a little black person-shaped-silhouette? If you want writing either side, like the new logo layout, keep it same font and black?

The best logos are always the most distinctive yet simple... I think the pink and blue one is too fiddly, with different fonts and effects. Oh yeah, also pink is evil.

Hmmm, it depends what and who the logo is intended for.

That looks great, Malcolm, and i have a feeling a lot of time and effrot went into it, which is why I'm a bit embarassed about saying the following...

I feel that image would confuse most people who were't familiar with HoP already...I even had to look for a short while to find the "of" myself.

I too, like the original atomic symbol, (which is simialr to the one in the new design) and in my mind, it's cleaner to have a symbol fairly seperate from the words, if there are more than three letters, and the words are not in common usage.

How about chunking up the original one, so i's bigge and fatter, with strong outline of hard-dark blue but keeping the red/yellow colours as well?

I feel, as the pois and their paths, are the harder image for people to understand, it should be stronger and more obvious than the image of the person.

Then using a similar human figure (that one does look great) as a faded background behind the pois themselves...this will draw their attention to the poi's, but show them that a person is required as well.

This would even allow lines from the figure to the poi themselves, without detracting from the path-symbol, as long as they were as faded as the image of the person.

For T-Shirts, I would love for HoP to keep the original font at the top of the page...It's easy to read, has a nice chunky style to it, and, now that I look a bit closer, is actualyl trademarked too!!

(Hope i haven't upset anyone)

That's not chubby. that's muscles from spinning poi that large. As per mr Bovril Monkey and his outlandishly large poi....

Malcolm - orange is the complimentary colour of blue.
Yellow is complimentary to purple.

In case you're interested.

If you're doing tshirts can I have one with the fish in a hat (on that drawing you sent me) on it please?

very nice... the colors are great
the figure in the middle is prolly not needed but still looks good.

but i have to agree with Charles that the "of" is quite hard to find and at a quick glance people may think it is "home poi" i would make both poi pink and put the of somewhere else. Also if you are aimming at a corporate ID/Logo make the poi flat pink because the basics outline for corporate logos are to have no gradients and no more then 3 colors i mostly use shapes but the poi with the paths is quite nice.
but yer if your not after the "corp" look thats fine looks very nice you have done well.

I like the pink you dont have to do everything the same to make it look nice but when ever i look at something i look at it from a design point of view so i like different things.

I like the current logo at the top of the page for its font, clarity and colors.

I agree with it looking rather atomic.

However, along with Charles theme...can you not simply put a person in the middle of the atomic pattern, with arms outstretched to the crossing sections?
Keep the person the same color as the font, and the atomic paths colored.

This actually not only gives the info clearly but also makes it known that the person is making the pattern and...does not necessarily mean just poi. There are alot of tools involved on here that are used in that fashion, and while the site is called Home of Poi, it has developed into so much more, so it could be a poi, stave, clubs, torches, etc.... so the ambiguity is nice for the wearer.

Just my opinions. Oh, also Malcolm...it's about damn time!

Oh, I like that one much better! The person's leg looks a little distorted, but, s'great apart from that!

"Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat: "we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad."
"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn't have come here."

I like that (most recent) but somehow I feel the legs should be behind the "atomic symbol" bit rather than in front, so that the symbol appears to go around the person. This may not work as I feel it will, and I'm not a designer or particularly graphic person, but perhaps it'll help.

oh, oops, I meant to add that I'm not sure about the font for the "and fire twirling". I think it's hard to read when squashed up that small and looks rather like "twireing" to me.

I, too, saw 'fire twireing' when I first looked at it... Maybe if the font was a bit less bold? Plus, I can see where Matthew B-M is coming from- the person half-in front and half-behind does look kinda more... Poi-ish... Murr... But these are just the comments of a jaded, biased weirdo... Don't mind me..!

The new logo is a great idea, but the view i have is that the colour scheme is nice, but doesnt really work for promoting fire arts. It also doesn't give a clear idea of what poi is about for people new to the site. Its very modern and it is visually pleasing but i think working and developing on the old logo is a better idea, i personally like the present logo, so building on it instead of changing it would be great!.

I like the spinny fire bit.

I'm not sure about the typeface. It's too clowny/cartoony, there are plenty of free, fiery fonts out there, have you tried one of those?

If you are improving the design, have you considered changing the grey?

Magnus... pay it forward
