biggrin biggrin Every Wednesday 7.00- 10.00pm biggrin biggrin
Location: Synergy Centre, 220 Farmers Road, Camberwell New Road, nearest tube Oval
South central London, UK
Cost: £3
Contact: Martin (just_jugglers atsymbolthingy yahoo.co.uk)

Details:
Just before christmas, Just Juggers got an AWSOME new venue for their workshops
This is the best venue for a poi, staff and juggling workshop in london since the days of the new Drome.
Theres room for at least 100 poi spinners, staff people, jugglers and manipulators.
The main room now has Insulation and from last night it has heating too, it was warm Mmmmmmm
the floow is carpeted
and a phat sound system (beats the old pokey little stereo)
and there a workshop room downstairs with a sprung wooden dancefloor
This workshop has potentials to be great

Gettting There:
The place is very difficult to find first time!!
Take your A to Z map, or better still get someone to meet you at the tube.
Its shown on the wrong side of farmers road in the this map, it should be on the west/left side:
https://www.streetmap.co.uk/newmap.srf?x=...p=newsearch.srf
Oval tube. walk down camberwell new road, Then take a little alley way off to the left that isn't shown on this map!.
the alley is only 50yds long and connects camberwell new road to the middle of farmers road.
at the end of the ally the synergy project is on your right just round the corner, a heavy wooden black double door off farmers road with NO SIGN to indicate that its is the right place.
Once you get inside, theres still no signs!!
Go through the doors, turn right up the stairs,
at the top of the stairs go through the door and the workshop is at the end of the corridor in the big space at the back. biggrin

I'm not organising it - huge thanks to Martin for doing that smile

ubblol i'm not sure what part of that's funniest... the fact that you're the first to post about it having only just made it along last night, the fact that you're already planning to get us all packed in like sardines (100?), or the fact that your still annoyed about how hard it was to find (it's hardly any more difficult or obscure than brixton and can be easily identified by the hippies hanging around)...

...but yes, it's a wicked venue and damn good now they've got the insulation/heating/carpet/wooden floor!!! biggrin biggrin

I'll also be doing beginners poi tuition in the dance room downstairs (the room with the lovely wooden floor) from 7-9 pm. Cost for that will be a fiver. Otherwise just come and practice upstairs smile

Oh, but I can't guarantee that the phat soundsystem will be upstairs every week. That was left over from the New Years Eve party. As of next week the space will be an official art gallery during the day, so the soundsystem will probably have to be put away frown

The phat soundsystem has now set up home in the dance room downstairs where I'm holding my poi classes biggrin

It's such a beautiful space I hope people come and make the most of it. I didn't get any students last week, and if that happens again this week I might have to give up my time slot. frown

So if you want tuition at less than half the price of the apex courses, in a really beautiful space with great sounds, then come down this week or PM me when you can come, and I'll try to work around that smile

The workshop upstairs is getting quite established now so should be safe. The gallery is now an official art gallery weds-sun 2-7pm, so there's some sculptural artwork you'll have to spin around, but again it's such a beautiful space with UV artwork and projections, I think that will make up for it. biggrin

ok so I lost the dancefloor slot, so I'll be teaching poi upstairs in the gallery too. Here's a photo of the space in full UV mode smile
Obviously we switch the strip lights on for the jugglers!

Righty,

This deserves a bump.

I'm running my poi class for 6 more weeks then it's festival time! woohoo!

Anyone is welcome, all levels catered to, no need to book the whole six weeks, and only £5 per lesson.

Super friendly space, cafe, soundsystem.

What more do you want?

Cheers guys

I haven't been there for a few weeks, but last time I was there there was a good crowd. The lighting has been sorted out so there's plenty enough light for juggling.

I'm restarting my poi classes on wednesday 9th August.

If anyone's interested in coming along let me know smile

yup this is still happening.. hasn't ever reached spitalfields numbers but that means there's less distractions, and lots more time and space for practising.

here's the weblink to find out about my poi courses too

The old Synergy Centre on Farmers Road is no more. We had some good times there. We hope to be able to move to the old Buddhist Centre in Waterloo very shortly, but in the meantime Synergy Spinners will be taking place at

Vauxhall Gardens Community Centre,
100 Vauxhall Walk, SE11 5EL
Just a five minute walk from Vauxhall station, across the park.

It is a very friendly community-run space, with an outdoors area for fire spinning and smoking.

At the moment we are mainly a beginners poi and staff workshop, with lessons by Alex and Adrien from 8-10pm.

Donations of £3 are requested, the money goes towards making new toys for the workshops, as well as our travel expenses.

6 week intensive poi courses will also soon be available for £60 / £40 concessions.

for more information contact me at synergyspinners@yahoo.co.uk

Last reply in that thread was 28/3/09 so I reckon it is fairly likely that it is going on still.
