Can any slack line enthusiasts recommend me a brand or a kit to start out with? I have some extra cash and I've finally decided to buy my own, but I have no idea what I should start out with. I was thinking the Slackline Brothers Minima Kit.

I don't know much about slack lining, just that it looks really fun. XD So, if anyone can recommend me something better or let me know if that's a good brand, it'd be much appreciated. ^_^

Question everything.

I just remembered that Home of Poi sells slack lines! Has anyone used the ones from HoP? And would you recommend them?

Oh, missed this.

I am going to get a minimalist, primitive kit similar to this in a month or so: https://www.nwslackline.org/32/article-building-a-basic-slackline

I have costed it at about €70 or so, but still need to get a couple line-lockers, so maybe €75?

About ZAR750 or so. Just over R700 without linelockers. That is for a 23 line and 8m to turn into slings.

Thanks, Aston.

ZAR750? R700? You're talking about currency, right?
I'll refrain from calling you a witch and stoning you, if so. tongue2

23 line? Meters?

It's a fairly cheap set up. What he says about the ratchet systems makes me kind of wary about getting one of those now.

I think I'm going to go for making my own kit now. smile What would you rate the difficulty of setting a slack line like that up? I'm a complete beginner. The ratchet system seemed a lot easier to set up.

Question everything.

Alright, this is what I've come up with so far:

2 12' lengths of 1" nylon webbing for the slings
75' of 1" nylon webbing for the main line
2 Omega Pacific Rappel Rings
4 Black Diamond Rocklock Screwgate Carabiners

The total is $84.94.

That's all I need according to the article. Do you know of anything else I may need or does that sound about right?

Question everything.

Tree protectors if you are going to put these on trees. Just use some old towels, or cardboard or something like that. If you are useing artificial supports it is less of anissue.

https://www.nwslackline.org/96/howto-setting-up-a-basic-primitive-slackline
is how to set up that sort of system. smile

And yes, ZAR and R are currency, in this case South African Rand. 23m, yes. Not sure where the "m" went.

I am keen to get mine. grin

Oooh, I'm bookmarking that page. grin

So, you only need one carabiner at one end? And three at the other?

Also, you've been very helpful. Thank you!

I am very keen to get mine too. grin

Question everything.
