How do i do it. Like on the pendulum poi with the px3 handles. I want to make some. I supposed I'd have to use wood. Anyway, any advice would be great. thanks.

The PX3 handles are basically just balls with a hollowed out space. All you need is a hole big enough to run your rope through, and enough of a hollow to fit a simple overhand knot into. A 3/8" drill bit is enough to run the rope through, but you'll need something a bit wider to make the hollow. I think the technical specs on the PX3 handles say how wide it is on theirs.

Ah, well the club handles are more or less just the same thing as a ball grip. So an eye bolt in a wooden ball, or what I did, epoxy a short length of chain into a large hole in the ball (I did it this way because I hate having an eye bolt in my fingers). They make epoxies that can take up to around 600 degrees F, so it's still pretty fire safe.

I use rubber door stops.

If you look in one of the other threads in here, there are some of my practice poi made using three of them on chain, I have one as the handle on each of my fire poi as well.

edit: Last post [Old link] (post #919163)

I use a set up like the top part of the top picture on my fire poi. (With a nail, not a hair-pin.)

I have not had a problem. I do not use Coleman's though, only paraffin, which I think burns cooler.

I find if I drop, the handle is usually away from the head and I get to it quickly enough that there is no effect.

I think the PX3 handle material would melt a bit more severely than something like the rubber door stops, but I've not tested them out with fire. I would still recommend just using wooden knobs.

Do the wooden balls have the screw go all the way through them, I want to sand it down to a flat back.

Well one way I've seen them made is to drill a hole either part way or all the way through them and use an automotive epoxy to set in swivels or a length of chain (I did the latter when I made mine). I'm not sure exactly how HoP does theirs, but I'm pretty sure no metal elements stick through.

Umm with the ones from HoP you won'te be able to sand it. The drill a hole all the way through and the a wider one on one side. They put an eyebolt through and it's held by double lock nuts and the end covered by some plastic thing put on the shallow, wider hole. I think it works quite well smile I haven't lit that set in a long time.

The only luck is bad luck.

Shut up before I stall my poi up your ass grin

Lye: You could always countersink another hole on the opposite side as well.

Has anyone tried these yet?

https://www.homeofpoi.com/shop/productDetails/Single-Poi-Knob-with-Swivel

They look like a groovy alternative to the px3 knobs. I see they are a new product, I will give them a try soon. I assume they wouldn't be recommended with fire props though.

Groovy

i don't think tha there would be probs if used on chains...or with fire...they have the swivel...so if they don't get in contact with the fire they wouldn't melt...

the problem is the price...
