Well, seeing as we are starting to take over the

"Offical HOP "I just learnt a new move" thread", I thought we should contain this bit just to jugglerisng and the throwing and dropping of balls, clubs, rings and other miscellaneous juggling props.

Today I mothered learning 441.

I had a few throws of 531 but only 1 catch. I think my 5 is too high.

Note for the mods: I DEMAND on behalf of the jugglers on this site, as has been done with the aforementioned "Poi moves thread", that this one is made a sticky thread.

Otherwise its just favouritism really....

So, is it basically what I know as the crown?

Anyway, just managed 53 catches of three in one hand, so I'm dead chuffed. However, during this juggling session, I broke one of my clubs frown Looks like the next time I go to Jugglers in Notts, I'll be getting 4 clubs. One for myself, and three for my mum, as she can kinda juggle 3c cascade-ish now, and she wants to do passing (so do I!) I'll nick one of them for my four club though!

No way could I do 53 catches of 3c in one hand; I did three balls in one hand. Sorry for the misunderstanding. You do expect a lot from me, don't you!

I'm trying to learn 534, and I'm not being too successful. I find that whenever I come to do a 5 from my left, it collides with the 4 from my right, but that isn't true when mirrored. I've found, if I do my 5 reverse (from the outside coming in) it doesn't collide, but the pattern becomes too wide. Suggestions, please?

ooh ooh ooh, me me me, i can do 534, i found that learning 504 was really really useful for getting 534 to work without any collisions. 504 is a nasty pattern and needs a transition throw to get into it, throwing a 4 before the 5 is enought to get into it. if you like me once its started working dropping them will be enought to get out, take a look on jugglingdb for some more clues.

that and a really solid 531, f**k it, why not have a crack at 5551 whilst your their, flashing it is much easier than you'd think, getting a solid 5551 or 55514 is challenging:-)

I'm trying to learn 534

[...]

Suggestions, please?

first, make sure your half shower (53) is solid in both directions.

then learn to do it with inside throws: 53 with inside throws

then learn to switch between sides using just one 4, like this: switching inside throw half-shower direction using 534

then just cut down the half shower rotations until you are just doing one round of 53 in each direction: half shower switching directions leads to 534 smile

good luck juggle

5551 reverse cascade ubblove

I totally disagree with cole, you dont have to learn 53 both ways, and I disagree with pat, you can just go straight in from the 5 throw, no worries.

what i would try is 53444 wich is 4b tennis, its a bit slower than 534 but still lets you get that left hand practice in.

oh, and while your having trouble with the first 2 rotations, start the pattern in your non-dominant hand.

i think what is emerging here is a history of how people personally learnt 534 smile

tom learnt tennis and then just went for it.

pat had a list of siteswaps he wanted to learn and 534 came after learning 5551.

i learnt the half shower both ways and then went for 534.

i reckon tennis isn't that great for it cos the 5 is an over the top throw rather than a normal throw and you can sketch the 4's to make up for a shoddy bit of 53, giving you bad practice.

although mtg did say he was having problems with collisions, so learning 53 with an over the top 5 might just help shrug

to be honest, i'm sure any one of those three techniques would help you learn it so the best thing to do is to try them all out ubbrollsmile

tom - pat was saying you need a 4 before you go into 504, which is true smile hug

woops, i meant the transition throw into 504.... my bad, 534 doesn't need a transition throw coz its already got a 4 infront of it. lol

and cole, i still only get a few good runs of 53 from my left, and worse still, i'm also rubbish at doing both half showers...

gonna start workin on them though, everyone keeps talking about this 5 ball reverse cascade, i want it...

and this reverse 5551 is it really that good [Nx?]

and the 5 ball mills mess.... oooh what a dream:-)

I've been getting into club hitting (i think a Malte Steinmetz trick?) in three clubs - I can hit them high in the air, great fun. Not sure how great it is for the clubs though. Been trying to work out 4 club hits, but not getting anywhere. 5 clubs is really coming along, got a flash of 5c triples yesterday smile smile

Ok so some of you might no the ball juggling trick of a flip over the shoulder followed by a backcross followed by another flip over the shoulder - effectively three balls popping over one shoulder but without changing from a standard 3 pattern.

Well I did it with clubs yesterday. smile Only once and over my left shoulder. Don't know how it looks but felt pretty cool.

guess it'll probably be another couple of months before i get to see what that looks like again

63353 is comin' along really nice

as is 534 with the 3 as a backcross, it's not super special or anything, but seems fun:-)
