So, I got me 60 cm long stick and I wonder what to do next to make a levistick... Can somebody help me with this one?
I would like to try levisticking, but I'd like to try and see if I really like it before I buy anything.

hey there ...the next thing you need to do is to drill a hole just a little bit off center for the string.

I also made a 60cm long levistick and I drilled a hole 3 millimeters off the center...it depends a little bit on the weight of the stick though (mine is aluminium...so very light ;)).

now loop a string through the whole and you're ready to go wink

If you are covering it in tape, you can get the weight more precise by adding small amounts of bluetack at whichever end needs it.

Although try to get the weight right without it.

What did you use for the stick? I'd love to make my own but I don't think I'd have the resources for it xP

tape is nice anyway even if it's just for decoration *hehe* smile mine has blue tape and green glitter grin just so much more fun to play around with if it actually looks pretty as well! wink and since I used an aluminium stick, tape was also necessary to add a little extra weight to the whole stick.

Laasya: After reading this thread I converted one of my practice staves into an oversized levistick, so a good straight dowel should work for one to play around with.

I went to the hardwood store the other day and found a metal stick for plants... The kind of stick you use for supporting plants like orchids. And it cost only 50 cents (2,50 kn- croatian money). It's made of some kind of metal, though I don't know what kind exactly. It's not too light or too heavy. And it made a great, cheap levistick, balanced and everything. smile I would like to decorate it because it's not a pretty color. I have some paint for airplane kits left so I think I'll use that, instead of tape.

Oh neat grin I don't think I have anything to drill the hole in the stick though, but good to know where I can get one if I get any brilliant ideas!

What color are you painting yours, LaLa?

I don't know... I got like 12-13 colors. Still haven't decided. I have to drill a hole first. For now I just duck taped the string and it works well. First the hole.
I'm sure you can get a wooden stick somewhere. I use to see them around such stores. It's easier to drill them. Maybe you know someone how can do it for you.

@Lala - you can do stripes! I don't know how easy it is to use that kind of paint, but if you can pick out a few colors that look nice together you can make a pattern grin maybe that wouldn't look good, I don't know...

So my colors are a little old and a bit dry and lumpy... maybe I should have gotten new ones or used nail polish or something different. But I didn't. Don't know why. Half of it is done. When it's dry I'll do the other half. Not so impressive as I hoped it would be...
