just coming to me:

Anyone aware that what we're doing (dancing with fire) at least has been considered "sacred" in ancient times?

We're using fire not in its destructive context. We tie it up to sticks and chains, to nun-chakkus, swords, rope darts and fans - so basically we're tying it to weapons, and we learn how to manipulate weapons... in a non-destructive context.

In ancient times that would have been the job of a shaman or medicine man...
